[Full Focus S Review]

According to an AT&T Community Manager's posting, the carrier is not planning to offer the Windows Phone 8107 update. The refresh solves the famous "keyboard bug". Of course, as with any Windows Phone update, carriers can skip one but need to offer the subsequent one, which is cumulative anyways. However, we need to remember Eric Hautala's famous post: "In the months ahead, we'll continue to send out firmware and maintenance updates as needed. These will be available across the globe—although not everybody will receive or require them. It depends on your country, carrier, and phone ...

Samsung's Focus S is one of the hottest phones to be a part of the Windows Phone second generation. With an eight-megapixel camera, fast 1.4GHz processor, and big 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, it's easy to see why. So far, though, the handset's exclusivity has been an issue, and it's only an option to AT&T subscribers in the States. If you were hoping that the Focus S might someday see a wider release, we've got some bad news for you, as a Samsung exec has apparently confirmed the Focus S will be staying in the US. This news comes courtesy of an interview with Samsung France's Head ...

The Samsung Focus -- 1.4 version on AT&T -- is finally getting its Windows Phone 7.5 update, according to the official Windows Phone Blog update post. The refresh has been fully tested and Microsoft is expected to flip the switch any time now. The update for the Samsung Omnia 7 on Telefonica in Spain is also being scheduled. Additionally, some devices from specific manufacturers are expected to deliver special updates which apply to certain models only. These bring bugfixes, improvements and some of them enable Internet Sharing. In addition, Microsoft is planning an OS update -- build 7740 ...

Last year the AT&T Samsung Focus ended up being the best new Windows Phone around as it shot to the top of the charts in satisfaction surveys. This year, Samsung has released two Focus successors and the Focus S is meant to be the high-end model. It improves on last year's Focus significantly in almost all areas, though the other Windows Phone manufacturers have stepped things up a bit as well. If you've already got an original Samsung Focus, you're probably already very happy with it (especially if you've got the Mango update), but what's changed in this new flagship Windows Phone from ...

The Samsung Focus S is running Microsoft's latest Windows Phone 7.5 operating system. If you haven't already, be sure to check our our Windows Phone 7.5 review for all of the details and new features that it brings. Of course, Samsung has done some customizations and AT&T has bundled a few AT&T branded apps as well, so that's what we're going to look at in the below video. You'll also see what kind of customizations Samsung has done to the camera. I like the "wide dynamic range" option, but it doesn't have anything comparable to what HTC has done with the panoramic and burst shot photo ...

The AT&T Samsung Focus S is quite an upgrade over last year's Windows Phones in the specs department. Its dimensions are 66.8 x 126 x 8.38mm, and weighs only 110g. That's very thin and light! Its 32bit Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255T processor runs at 1400MHz. It's got 15258MiB ROM as well and an amazing 4.3" 480x800 Super AM-OLED Plus LCD screen. For GSM and 3G band support, it has GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850, UMTS1900, UMTS2100. It's also got a new 8 Megapixel camera with flash and focus illuminator, as well as a secondary front-facing camera. For more specs, see PDADB.net The ...

We just got a new Samsung Focus S for AT&T and here's our unboxing video. The device has a usually orange AT&T branding on it and not too many special details about the phone on the back. Inside you get a quick-start guide right on top, a manual underneath the phone, a charger with USB port, a Micro-USB cable, and some headphones that look pretty nice. There's also different size earbuds for the headphones so you can find one that fits. Interestingly, there's a big sticker on the phone's screen that warns against texting while driving, but this phone with Windows Phone 7.5 probably has the ...

While there haven't been many secrets left concerning the US launches of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango devices, we've still been looking forward to see what Microsoft had to reveal at the event it had scheduled for earlier today. We did end up learning a little new information, but more than anything, today's event was about building-up Windows Phone buzz, with more than a little help from a six-story-tall WP7 smartphone. The only new tidbit we picked up had to do with the HTC Titan on AT&T, the last of the four handsets (also including the HTC Radar 4G, Samsung Focus S, and Samsung Focus Flash) ...

The flagship Samsung Focus S and the affordable Focus Flash are Samsung's wave-two devices that are already on AT&T's line-up. As we were told at the end of October, the phones are available online from the carrier. If you follow the source link you will be able to purchase online the Samsung Focus S running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.4GHz CPU, 16GB internal storage, eight-megapixel camera, and a front-facer. You'll pay $199.99 with a two-year contract for the Focus S but the Focus Flash will go for $49.99 with its own two-year agreement. In the ...

AT&T announced plans this time last week to carry Samsung's Focus S and Focus Flash. Shortly before hearing that, a rumor came our way claiming that the Focus S would have 32GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, AT&T's announcement didn't contain full spec break-downs on the handsets. Now, still a couple days before its retail debut, we're hearing from people who have gotten the chance to spend a little one-on-one time with the Focus S, finally letting us confirm its storage capacity. We hate to disappoint, but according to at least one hands-on account, the Focus S will have only 16GB of ...

It was just yesterday that we were wondering about the status of Samsung's Focus S and Focus Flash Windows Phone handsets. First, Samsung finally set up product pages for the pair on its website, and then we received an invitation to a Windows Phone event that prominently featured imagery of the two phones. We still didn't have anything specific like a release date, but the feeling was in the air that the new Focuses were about to drop imminently. Today, AT&T has finally given us what we were looking for, confirming launch dates for the phones as well as revealing their prices. While the ...

Here's a rumor that will appeal to many of you out there looking for a phone that will offer more internal storage for all your pictures, movies and whatnot. The upcoming Samsung Focus S Windows Phone on AT&T will probably come in two variants. There will allegedly be a 16GB and a 32GB model according to an anonymous AT&T employee. As with any Windows Phone, there will be no usable microSD card slot but the phone is also said to have 1GB of RAM. Other specs of the Galaxy S II running Windows Phone include a 1.4GHz processor, 4.3-inch, WVGA Super AMOLED Plus display, 720p-capable ...

As AT&T was laying-out its upcoming lineup of Windows Phone Mango handsets last month, it described plans to carry the Samsung Focus S and Focus Flash. Since then, the phones have appeared on the official Microsoft Windows Phone site; it seemed like the only company that wasn't aware of them was Samsung itself. Now the manufacturer has finally launched product pages for the pair, suggesting we're nearing their releases, and we're seeing the duo featured on invitations to a November 7 AT&T Windows Phone event. The Galaxy-S-II-alike Focus S (pictured above, center), as the name should clue ...
