ASUS has tweeted out that "Incredible is Coming" on August 31 in Berlin, two days prior to the official start of IFA Berlin. We suspect that the recent leaks of the ZenWatch 3 and a more global push for the ZenFone 3 Deluxe and its friends will be the cruxes of this event. The time for something incredible is now! #IFA16 #ASUS pic.twitter.com/D7GgqHJvUW — ASUS (@ASUS) August 17, 2016 Pocketnow will be on the ground to chase the latest developments from Taiwan, Korea and all over, via Germany. Remember the Galaxy Note 7? From that Korean company? Well, wash your mind from that and just look at this jewel of a phone that will bring your "eyes to the world." It also brings Huawei and its affiliate, Honor, back to the US for another product launch. The Honor 8 was launched from an event in San Francisco and with a move in markets from China — where it sold 280,000 units in the first four hours of sales — to the US, the smartphone is definitely getting targeted toward the Samsung crowd. The company reminded us of how hip and young it is, — Honor's Global President George ...

Our Juan Carlos Bagnell is on the ground in San Francisco at Honor's latest smartphone launch for the US market. We strongly believe it to be the Honor 8 that was launched in China last month, based on visual teasers and the use of a modified infinity insignia that's been integral to the Chinese-side marketing of the Honor 8. Of course, we can't confirm anything before the event happens. Better yet, some other devices might make the cut. Huawei's primary sub-brand will bring its "Eyes to the world" tonight with a livestream starting at 8pm Pacific, 11pm Pacific and 3:00 GMT. Catch it right ...

It was a short while ago that we saw Meizu launch its PRO 6 smartphone with a tri-cluster MediaTek processor, 10 LEDs for a flash ring and some dainty antennas. It was an even shorter while ago that we started talking about another PRO 6 (and the PRO 7). Would it sport an Exynos 8890 chipset this time around or not? Well, perhaps we should tuck a sticky note or two into our pocket calendar for September 3 and September 13. Wait, what? Two posters are going around showing off the two dates — though the September 3 poster seems to be more popular at the moment, based on a quick check of ...

Call it what you want, but it seems that Samsung has a big success on its hands with the Galaxy Note 7. In fact, it's so much of a success, certain countries are starting to reel back from pre-orders and general sales availabilities. Samsung Malaysia, for example, has released a missive to the media saying that because of market demand, it won't be able to officially launch the Note 7 in the market until next month. That said, it had been running pre-orders through today with some promised early shipping dates — the company continues to promise that the dates will be honored. Europe has ...

Funny how a conversation about Apple's rather partite products can get intersectional sometimes. In talking about a potential new MacBook Pro that will have a new display (in multiple senses), new internals and a new lease on life in general, sources to Bloomberg also disclosed that this new notebook probably won't be launched on September 7. Why September 7? That's when the next-generation iPhone 7 models are going to be announced. Why on a Wednesday? We're not sure. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus were announced at an event on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. But the iPhone 6 generation ...

Following an epileptic opening ceremony and a melodious collage of national anthems to follow along with the Olympic spirit, Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Note 7. Company president Dongjin Koh calls it the "world's most intelligent smartphone" and an entry into the fastest growing category of such phones: the phablet. Big points about the Note 7 were presented before the phone was even announced like the iris scanner, — with applications for keeping parents' children safe (and vice versa) along with mobile banking — the device's water-resistance, its wireless charging ...

The first of two prospective BlackBerry devices powered by Android has made its way through the FCC for radios certification. A look-up of the FCC ID as leaked gives us 17 entries owing to BlackBerry. Its model name, STH100-2, corresponds to previous leaks regarding the Hamburg model. The phone, as tested, supports two major GSM bands in the US and also supports LTE bands 2, 7, 38 and 41. Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi ac is supported. That's the least we know, given FCC reporting requirements. According to Wi-Fi Alliance documents, TCL is producing the phone. As the commission published the ...

Xiaomi might have racked up some 1.5 million sales for its Mi Max smartphone, but all achievements are fleeting in an industry that keeps the butter churning. So, when's the next big release date? According to the company, it's to be July 27. The Redmi Weibo page posted up the existence of a Redmi Pro that will debut along with some "a mysterious sidekick" on that date. Whether it's the Redmi Note 4 or a Mi Note 2 or the Galaxy Note 7-whoops, wrong post... anyways, there's plenty of thought that could go into this. It could be an accessory or a weirdo smart surfboard — we're talking ...

From left field of Candlestick Park — rest in pieces — comes a surprise from Honor. The Huawei sub-brand is continuing its campaign in the US as it has promised to. It has invited press to an event in San Francisco on August 16 "for an exciting product launch, following the success of the Honor 5X in the U.S." The accompanying teaser picture features a modified infinity sign — also known as a sideways "8". Odds are on the Honor 8 launching and it would be a marked step up in hardware from what the 5X offered — a dual-camera module on the back, glassy design that looks like a cross ...

Meizu is feeling the pressure to give a good whack at its mid-range flagship this season, especially with the bang-up job it supposedly did with the PRO 6. And one co-founder is opening up to those challenges. Bai Yongxiang has posted to his Weibo account that the company is doing its best to export as much power as possible from the PRO 6 to the MX6. "Costs and prices will increase, but I believe there will be nothing like it in terms of craftsmanship in the ¥2,000 range ($300-450)," Bai posted. For context, last year's MX5 started at around the equivalent of $290. One AnTuTu ...

The International Funkausstellung Berlin comes our way starting September 2 and it will be a jam-packed week of tech business. But Huawei is kicking it off just a bit earlier. It has invited press outlets to an event in Berlin at which the company will release at least one new smartphone on September 1. Given Huawei's release pattern of last year, we may see the sequel to the Mate S at this event. The fabled follow-up to the Nexus 6P, the 7P could also get an appearance here, especially if Google decides to pull-up its Nexus event before September — a scenario that isn't looking likely ...

Chinese manufacturer Vivo is readying itself for another smartphone release. Unlike the Xplay 5 Elite, though, these two devices won't be busting any blocks — even the company admits it through an initial release of their specs. [gallery columns="1" ids="475884"] But what we're looking is far from basic. The Vivo X7 will sport a Snapdragon 652 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage standard. The 16-megapixel selfie camera gets paired with a "Moonlight" flash diode. Of course, like other Vivo offerings, there's little bezel around the screen and below it is the fingerprint sensor. ...

Bluetooth 4.2, introduced in December of 2014, is about to be replaced. The wireless standard, which hasn't seen much change at the center of its core specifications, will see its biggest update since July of 2010 with the launch of Bluetooth 5. No point versions. Just "5". The Bluetooth Special Interest Group will release the details of Bluetooth 5 at a London press event on June 16. It has been said to have double the speed and quadruple the range of Bluetooth 4.0 connections and "provide significant new functionality for connectionless services like location-relevant information and ...

There's plenty of anticipation hanging in the air. Lenovo and Motorola will be dropping plenty of that during today's keynote for the Lenovo Tech World '16 conference today. We have on-the-ground coverage in San Francisco, but if you want to get the keynote directly from there (and you're not there, we assume), this is the place to get it. If you're in it for the RAZR throwbacks, for the much-rumored Moto Z, the purported Phab 2 Pro with Project Tango augmented reality technology or all of the above, we'll be comparing wishlists to spec lists for the next little while. The keynote ...

Like any great musical act, the OnePlus 3 is about to head on world tour. Shortly after sales begin next Wednesday, OnePlus will be popping up at several outlets across the world to introduce the new smartphone to its fans, let them try it out and even buy one if you get to the fun early enough. On June 15, the Colette shop near the Palai-Royal in Paris will host the first event at 11am local time. Londoners can head to the Joshua Kane on Brushfield in Whitechapel while Berliners can go to Firmament just off Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz at 7pm in each respective place. Those in New York can head ...

Last year, OnePlus took its fans on a virtually realistic tour through its offices. This year, it's going to be in inner space. Getting the masses to take part in the VR experience hasn't been an easy task, but with smartphone manufacturers planting their stakes in some form of a headset, they have interests in tending to interest. Huawei sub-(fire)brand Honor has a "Save the Date" going out to tech press in Europe for June 20. Not a single hint of what could be released during this event with a lot of affirmative marketing for "a new definition of fast, robust and affordable, all in ...

It's not even two weeks now until WWDC16 comes along. It's the Apple developer gathering that reveals everything new in the company's software. The big reveal we're looking out for? iOS 10. iOS X. iOS Twiddles. Whatever it's supposed to be called, it's supposedly coming. And in all seriousness, we haven't seen a completely new software feature for you iPhone or iPad that would seemingly justify turning the dial up to ten. While we do know that WWDC will take place between June 13 and 17, we have learned that it will start off with a keynote at 10am Pacific or 1pm Eastern on June 13 at ...

New York City. Home of everything, ever. That includes an event from Samsung this week — specifically, this Thursday, June 2. The press invitation the company has sent out tells us to "Go. Move. Explore. Create with Galaxy". The fitness vibe that marketing gives off would tell of something like a Galaxy S7 Active, but our colleagues at Droid Life are thinking more of the Gear Fit 2 or "IconX" earbuds that's also been teased about. And hey, it could be all of the above. "Experience how Samsung's devices work together to create a Galaxy of Possibility," the invite continues. Dubstep ...

HTC was last out of the gate for the spring flagship launches this year — well, technically Lenovo's Tech World event comes just before the start of summer, but Motorola's traditionally been a late bloomer anyways. Still, the HTC 10 isn't exactly everywhere just yet, but it will be in India soon. In fact, we can presume that HTC's Save the Date event in India on May 26 is about the HTC 10. Media invitations are out. India was originally rumored to have a Snapdragon 652-equipped version of the phone named the HTC 10 Lifestyle. Later tea leaves pointed back to the country getting the ...

Did ZTE pull a Huawei or are they just good friends? We've seen the Ascend Mate 2 turn into the Ascend Mate 7, now we're hearing about the sequel to the Axon coming into view as the Axon 7. GizmoChina has an invitation for a May 26 event in Beijing and it's teasing some loud speakers. In addition, we're expecting the typical internals for the space year 2016: quad HD resolution spread over 5.5 inches, a Snapdragon 820, a single 20-megapixel main camera and 64GB of native storage. Odd that we're hearing about a Beijing event as we saw ZTE launch the first device in the line, the Axon Pro, ...

Well. It had to happen, didn't it? There had to be a "unicorn phone". Indian tech media outlets are getting invitations from Micromax sub-venture Yu to attend the launch event for the company's new Yunicorn smartphone, a phone that. It will happen on May 19 in New Delhi. "Fantasy will soon become reality" is the main tagline in this missive. PhoneRadar relayed rumors that the phone would target the sub-Rs. 15,000 ($225) range and run on stock Android. We're not clear if this device is connected to a benchmark for the YU5530 noting a MediaTek Helio X10 chipset with 4GB of RAM. We were told ...

When Huawei decides to put out a flagship, there comes flying from the factories a few of its friends. Something large. Something small. Sometimes, some thing that's a little mid-ranger. And that's where we get to know the Huawei G9 over some paint-poisoned fruit and some Ferrero Rocher. Yes, we know that the US just got hold of the Huawei GX8, but we're talking China here and they're looking forward to a May 4 event for this new device. We're hearing a few analogues that connect the G9 to the Honor 5C, the main one being that they share use of the Kirin 650 chipset — eight cores clocked ...
