We've been bringing you our best quality mobile-tech podcast once a week for over a year now, and we're not about to break that streak on one of the biggest tech weeks of the year. Sure, we might've missed our usual Wednesday/Thursday time slot, and we might've even technically missed the weekend dividing line, depending on what time zone you're in - but you know what? Early this morning we caught wind of the Toshiba Encore, the latest eight-inch Windows 8 tablet to go official. While not the first tablet running such software in that form factor, running an Intel Bay Trail Atom sure could give it a leg up on the competition, and the very attractive sticker price of a mere $330 could make the Encore difficult to ignore. We simply had to check this guy out for ourselves, and see if it really would be capable of delivering a solid Windows 8 experience while still managing to keep its price so bottom-basement. We know that Acer beat everybody to the punch with the announcement of the W3, which is the world's first Windows 8 tablet to fit in an 8-inch display form factor. Still, one thing we've learned about the mobile market is that being the first to announce something is not a guarantee that it'll actually reach the market faster or be more affordable than the rest of the competitors that'll arrive at the scene. Such is the case of Toshiba, which just announced the Toshiba Encore, and offers a sweeter package than what Acer is offering with their W3. Both tablets run on Intel Atom chips, but ...
