Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about the announcement of the Motorola Droid Ultra line-up for Verizon, and what this means for competing devices. Nokia follows the lead as they've also launched their "big new thing" with the Lumia 625, even though the specs are anything but big. HTC is next as we've got some more rumors on the carriers that will receive the codename Zara and T6 (One Max). LG takes the spotlight next with some new trademarks that include a smart watch and a tablet. We end today's show talking about Google's event tomorrow and how we plan to give you the best live ...

The new Motorola has arrived … or something like that. The Moto X still isn't officially official, although we received an invitation to an August 1st press event titled Moto X. But today, in a joint press event with Verizon, three new Motorola handsets were announced: Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini. Gone is the RAZR branding, to no surprise, but Motorola hasn't severed ties with its penchant for thinness. The Droid Ultra is an impressive 7.18mm thick, the Maxx is 8.5mm thick, and the Mini is 8.9mm thick. And with exception to dimensions, display size, storage, and battery ...

With pre-orders now open for the just-launched Motorola Droid Ultra, Maxx, and Mini, we're continuing to get new information about these models. We knew they would have 10-megapixel cameras, but have now managed to confirm that these will indeed be the RGBC components we heard rumored, and we've also discovered a little about what Verizon's planning for the future of its Droid brand. We first started hearing about this RGBC business in the context of the Moto X, which was said to have a Clear Pixel camera using the system. Shortly thereafter, we heard a similar claim made in regards to the ...

Last week, Verizon sent out invitations to an event scheduled for today, and it sure seemed to be implying that we'd finally see these Motorla Ultra-series devices – the Ultra, Maxx, and Mini we've been talking about for weeks now – go official. Sure enough, the carrier has just announced the trio, all running some new Motorola silicon. The phones run what Motorola calls its X8 Mobile Computing System, but don't let that lead you to believe we're talking about an octa-core setup – at least not in any conventional sense. Instead, Motorola is counting a whole lot beyond general ...

Last week Pocketnow's Jaime Rivera wrote about why Verizon should kill the Droid name. Verizon did something for Android that Google and other OEMs were having a hard time doing: marketing the brand. The entire platform was up against Apple's killer product: the iPhone. HTC, Samsung, Motorola, and others were building smartphones powered by Android, but named different things. Each manufacturer had their own brand, sub-brand, model, and sub-model strung together to try and describe their product. As one might expect, it got confusing. Then Verizon did something brilliant: they stole the ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about the recently leaked renders of a possible red Nokia Lumia 1020, and the carrier it might be going to. Then we talk about the Nokia phablet that's been rumored for the last couple of months, and you won't like the news about it. The future Nexus 7 is next as it seems that it might become more expensive in its future iteration. Verizon's Motorola Droid Ultra takes the spotlight next as it seems they might get announced next week. We end today's show talking about the Google event scheduled for next week as well, and what we might get from it. ...

Think of it as a mash-up of some of today's earlier stories: we learned of an upcoming Verizon event that sure seemed like it could be the launch of the Droid Ultra, Mini, and Maxx, and then we got to see a leaked render of an AT&T Nokia Lumia 1020 in red. Put 'em together and what have you got? An all-new leak, this time showing of the previously unknown red version of the Droid Ultra. We've already seen renders of that Droid crew in black, and there have been indications that there could be white versions of at least some of these models. With the arrival of this red Droid Ultra, ...

Rumors addressing upcoming Motorola smartphones have lately been split into two camps: it seems like the bulk of the info we've been dealing with has concerned the Moto X, but recently there's been a flurry of activity dealing with a few new Droid models for Verizon. Picking up where the RAZR HD and its kin left off, it's been looking like we could be about to see the launch of a Droid Ultra, Maxx, and Mini. Leaked advertising material has been pointing towards an early August launch, but now it looks like the carrier wants to make things official even earlier still, sending out invites to ...

It's not every day you schedule a podcast the day before one of the biggest Windows Phone announcements in the platform's history - but given our plans to host a special-edition Pocketnow Live event covering Nokia's NYC event tomorrow, we thought it best to get the Weekly out of the way ahead of time. That doesn't mean we don't talk Nokia - indeed, we've got Chief News Editor Stephen Schenck on the air with us this week to discuss what it's been like to follow the story of the EOS/1020/909, probably one of the most widely-leaked devices in smartphone history. We also follow the leaky ...

Curious about some of the new Motorola Droid models we've been hearing about? We recently had to take some of our focus away from the Moto X when a number of rumors and leaks started detailing a new wave of Droid-branded Androids, apparently set to be the follow-ups to last year's Droid RAZR HD models. Those have included the Droid Ultra, Maxx, and Mini. We've already seen renders of the first two, and today we get a look at the Mini, as well as a camera sample from the Ultra, and what looks like leaked advertising material for the Maxx. That's all three of them up top, giving us a proper ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about Apple's 5-year celebration of the App Store along with all the free app deals that they're offering. LG is next as they've just sent out press invites for their G2 event on August 7th. Samsung Galaxy Note III hardware takes the spotlight next as there seems to be more than two variants of the same phone this time. Then it's all about the Moto X as we've got more hardware pics, and we also have some press renders of the Droid Ultra. Nokia ends the show today as we have leaked press renders of the Lumia 1020 along with photos of Joe Belfiore ...

This weekend was a busy one for Motorola leaks, and following up all that Moto X action from the previous week, we got a couple new looks at other upcoming Androids from the manufacturer. First up we had a supposed render of the Droid Maxx, followed thereafter by a shot of what just might be the Droid Ultra. The latter is back on our radar today, with the arrival of a render of its own. Though now in black, the render does seem to closely resemble that purported image of the Ultra, not to mention the Maxx. That shouldn't be that surprising, as if we're comparing this family to the Droid ...

There are a ton of reports lately on upcoming Motorola phones, including the Motorola Droid Ultra, as well as the the Droid MAXX. Adding to all those is today's image, seen above, which claims to depict the Motorola Droid Ultra, on its way to Verizon, with model number XT1080. It might or it might not be the Motorola Droid Ultra, or an early prototype, and there is really no other information to go by except the image itself. The phone, as you can see, is white, and features the three capacitive buttons on the bottom, below the display. Verizon might have opted for these instead of the ...

Late last month, rumors arrived claiming that Motorola was preparing a new Droid Ultra line of Androids, seemingly mirroring the sort of selection offered through the company's Droid RAZR family. More recently, some evidence on Motorola's website itself appeared to give credence to the Droid Ultra name. Today, we get to check out the first purported image of one of these handsets. While this doesn't show us much, it certainly does seem to be a Motorola Android, what with that iconic Kevlar weave and all. At first glance, it might easily be mistaken for any number of existing Motorola ...
