Those who are using the Motorola Droid RAZR on Verizon and have chosen to be part of Motorola's Feedback Network are reportedly getting invitations to be part of a new "project". There are no details to go with the invitation just yet. Enthusiasts and optimists were immediately thinking Ice Cream Sandwich but we think it's safe to assume that the latest Android code is a little bit further down the road. Instead, the Motorola Droid RAZR had its Android 2.3.6 update leaked a couple of weeks ago as build 6.12.173 and it brings a couple of polishes (especially to the now improved LTE radio). ...

Verizon made available last week the Motorola Droid RAZR 16GB -- meaning the phone with just the 16GB of internal storage, sans the additional 16GB microSD card -- and today, the white and purple versions are also up on the carrier's website. If you want the 16GB variant, you have the option of choosing between black, white and purple, all going for $199.99 on a two-year contract or $599.99 full retail. By comparison, the Motorola Droid RAZR 32GB (16GB internal storage plus 16GB microSD card) is available in white and black for $299.99 with a two-year agreement and $649.99 for the phone ...

Here in the U.S., sales of the white Motorola Droid RAZR have started on December 15 with Verizon asking $300 and a two-year contract for the phone. In the U.K., the white variant of the international Motorola RAZR just went up for pre-order. The phone is expected to arrive around mid-late February, with no exact date yet, and it will go for £359 excl. VAT (around $560) unlocked and SIM-free. If you pre-order from Clove, they will throw in a set of Motorola MOTOROKR EQ3 speakers worth £20 (around $31) for free. The white RAZR, just like the standard version, sports a 1.2GHz dual-core ...

Motorola announced the Droid RAZR MAXX at this year's CES, a Droid RAZR with its battery on steroids. Instead of going with the 1780mAh battery on the Droid RAZR, the Droid RAZR MAXX sports one of 3300mAh, which will cost around two millimeters in thickness, but still keeping it under 9 millimeters. The manufacturer let slip of a certain January 26 date on its own website but quickly recovered by editing out the day and replacing the text with "available soon". Verizon however seems to have the same information: January 26, 2012, is the date "the Droid RAZR MAXX will launch to all ...

'What 16GB?', you'll ask. Verizon and Motorola introduced the Droid RAZR back in October with a total storage option of 32GB, comprised of the internal 16GB of the phone plus an additional 16GB via microSD card. The "new" offering, the Motorola Droid RAZR 16GB is basically you're typical phone offered by Verizon sans the microSD card, hence 16GB. If the "hybrid 32GB option" was and still is available fo $299, the "16GB" variant is on sale online going for $199, with a two-year contract. The month-to-month also dropped from $649.99 to $599.99 so if you don't care purchasing the extra memory ...

Motorola's Droid RAZR Maxx sounds like a refreshing change of pace in a world of ever-thinner phones with more and more demanding hardware. Rather than get bogged-down in those races, the RAZR Maxx is comfortable letting its belt loose, packing on a little weight, but doing so in order to make its user experience better than ever. Depending on just how heavy your usage patterns are, the RAZR Maxx and its 3300mAh battery will likely have enough juice to get you through a solid day of smartphone use, never having to stop for a recharge. In fact, if you had someone to talk to for that long, ...

Motorola's presence at the Consumer Electronics Show this week has been dominated by news of the Droid 4, bringing a QWERTY keyboard option to Verizon LTE, and the Droid RAZR Maxx, finally pairing an LTE phone with a battery capable of extended use. Those weren't the only handsets the manufacturer announced, though with their feature sets it's easy to see why they commanded so much attention. Motorola also revealed its plans to release a new variant on the original Droid RAZR, offering the Android in a new purple facade. At the time the company announced the phone it didn't share any ...

Back at the beginning of December, we broke news of the name Droid RAZR Maxx for one of Motorola's upcoming smartphones. We didn't have much more than some EXIF data to go on, but did see one unconfirmed report from a Verizon user who claimed to have been told by a retail employee that the RAZR Maxx was basically going to be a slightly-thicker RAZR with the benefit of a higher-capacity battery. Even a minor change to the phone seemed like a surprising development, considering how little time had passed since the Droid RAZR was first introduced. Sure enough, though, Verizon and Motorola ...

We did our best to mock-up the white version of the Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR once the phone popped-up on Verizon's system but it looks like we were thinking "too white". The carrier has confirmed the pale version of the phone and it's not "that white" after all. As you can see in the images above and below, the white Motorola Droid RAZR is mostly black, except for the bezel and the frame at its back, around the Kevlar battery cover. That aside, you'll have your basic RAZR with a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED screen, dual-core TI OMAP processor and Gingerbread, setting you back $299.99, just ...

If you're a fan of doing more with your Android device than it was intended to do, you've most probably run into a soft brick at some point. That's the specific point where you grab your hair, panic, and begin asking yourself what you were thinking of. Well, lucky for those who own a Motorola Droid RAZR, Bionic and the Atrix 2, that fear of sudden smartphone death can be cured with a little life support from their recently leaked Fastboot files. That's right, the folks at XDA-Developers have done it again. Make sure you hit the links for the specific threads of the Droid RAZR, Droid Bionic ...

Fastboot files are probably an Android power user's best friend; whenever you run into problems -- like a soft brick or something similar -- you can easily take the fastboot files from their safe location and restore your phone to stock condition. The Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR fastboot files have been recently leaked and, according to the community, reverting to stock is successful using the leaked bits. The software version is 6.11.744 and you'll probably lose root but you can, on the other hand, revive your phone should anything bad happen. For further details, download links and usage ...

Following up on the Motorola Droid RAZR update we've heard about and told you a couple of days ago, it looks like the version number for the software has been bumped to 6.11.748.XT912 and the refresh itself is already rolling out. Those who apply the update should expect to see the SIM error notification fixed, improvements in camera features and quality, improvements in stability of menu access, browser, phone dialer, video playback and music player to prevent force-close errors and lockups, updated group message notification in e-mail, improvements in 3G/4G data connectivity, maintained ...

The week wouldn't be complete without revisiting a few launch rumors one last time. Luckily, we've got some new word on a couple of the most anticipated ones set to make their debut on Verizon Wireless, supposedly coming from Verizon employees who have just been tipped-off to these updated launch schedules. Of course, we couldn't talk VZW launch rumors without starting with the Galaxy Nexus. There have been lots of signs pointing to it coming out around December 8, though most recently a leak suggested that VZW's retail partner Best Buy might not even receive the phone until December 11. ...

Now that Google has released an Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Nexus S, it's just a matter of time before another manufacturer follows suit with an Android 4.0 update of its own (and no, we're not counting the incomplete early versions we've seen from some). So, for the immediate future at least, every time we hear of a new update arriving our thoughts turn to Ice Cream Sandwich. Today, we got news of an update that's on its way out to owners of the Motorola Droid RAZR on Verizon, but they won't be seeing Ice Cream Sandwich just yet. What the update does contain is an assortment of ...

We kicked-off December by uncovering some evidence pointing to a new Motorola Android in the works. The EXIF data in some photos we looked at revealed they were taken by the Motorola Droid RAZRMAX. Even though the Droid RAZR is still a relatively brand-new handset, it certainly looked like Motorola might already be planning a refresh. There wasn't much pointing to just what changes might be in store, but the presence of some very RAZR-like models for the Chinese market had us thinking an upgrade to the display or camera might be in order. Today, we get to see another clue pointing to the ...

The spotlight may be on the Galaxy Nexus when it comes to Verizon rumors this month, but it's hardly alone on the stage. Right at the beginning of the month, we heard a series of rumors targeting December Verizon releases, including that of the white version of the Motorola Droid RAZR. We didn't have anything more specific at the time then a claim that the phone would show up sometime towards the middle of the month. Well, it looks like it's going to hit that target right on the money, as Verizon has announced today that sales of the white RAZR will start tomorrow, December 15. A few days ...

Tis the season to be taking advantage of sales while they last. Amazon has just dropped the price of the very admired Motorola Droid RAZR from it's staggering $299.99 to just $169.99 after your typical 2-year contract. Sadly, as with just about every sale involving a cutting-edge smartphone, the price is only available for new customers. If you're an existing Verizon customer that's eligible for an upgrade, you'll have to bump that number to $229.99 if you want the phone. We're not sure how long that price tag will remain, so move quickly if you're on the market for the best Verizon Droid ...

Even though we all know that Motorola's Droid RAZR is one of the first devices in-line to get upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it seems that the famously known Android developer "DroidTh3ory" just couldn't hold it. He already figured out a way to get Ice Cream Sandwich working on his RAZR, and even thought the performance is anything but stable, it's now a work in progress that should be done soon. The ROM is currently still not public. We're not sure how long it'll take either DroidTh3ory or Motorola to push the update, but let's hope they do a race for it. As you can see in ...

In the US, the 7.1mm thick Droid RAZR is sold on Verizon as an LTE device. But did you know that the RAZR is also sold in an unlocked GSM flavor with the proper bands to do AT&T 3G with quadband UMTS (2100/1900/900/850)? You can pick up one from our friends at Clove, where the GSM RAZR is selling for £379, which comes to about $600. With the GSM version, you'll still get that 4.3" qHD AMOLED screen, the 1.2GHz TI OMAP CPU, 1GB of RAM, plus an 8MP camera on the back capable of shooting full 1080p video. It ships with Android 2.3.5, but like its CDMA version, you can expect an Android 4.0 ...

When we're looking at very thin phones, or at ones with LTE radios, battery life is a concern we keep front in our minds. When both those circumstances apply, as with the recent Motorola Droid RAZR, our awareness of power issues is piqued. Especially considering that the RAZR's battery isn't user-replaceable, its performance could easily make-or-break the handset. When we reviewed the RAZR, we found its battery life adequate for our tests, though it was definitely pushing the boundary of having enough capacity to make it through the day; for heavy users, the phone might just fall short. ...

The Motorola Droid RAZR, the latest flagship phone on the Verizon network, is also the thinnest smartphone to date. Don't let its thickness -- or lack thereof -- fool you. This phone is durable and very well constructed! Back in 2004 Motorola introduced the original RAZR. It was thin, stylish, and with it's Tron-esque, back-lit aluminum keys, it looked really, really good. Unfortunately, its durability was questionable and battery life was not that great. Fast forward to today and the RAZR has been reborn, this time running Android and following in the footsteps of Motorola's insanely ...

I've recently used both the Motorola Droid RAZR and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus as my daily driver -- the smartphone I use every day. I've written articles about both and have been very impressed with each one. Apparently our readers have been fairly impressed with them as well -- so much so that many of you have contacted me personally asking which of the two devices I'd recommend. Since I'm sure many of you have the same question, let me take this opportunity to compare the two devices so you can better answer the question: Droid RAZR or Galaxy Nexus? Before we begin, the device I've been ...

The image above is a little mock-up we did but a similar device, namely a white Motorola Droid RAZR, has popped up in Verizon's system as you can see in the image below. Manufacturers like Apple and Samsung are already pushing out white versions of their phones and it appears that Motorola is planning on doing the same. The Gorilla Glass and Kevlar phone has a separate entry in Verizon's system for a white flavor. According to the screenshot, the possibility is known to Verizon at least from the beginning of October but exact plans on when the white version will hit the shelves is yet ...

Amazon has two hot Verizon phones on sale and they go for one penny each, which is pretty much free. They're the HTC Rezound and the Motorola Droid RAZR, introduced at the beginning of this month and mid-October, respectively. To take advantage of the great price you will of course have to sign a two-year contract but given the mere hotness of these devices, you'll probably comply. The HTC Rezound is the phone-maker's first model with an HD-resolution 720p display (4.3 inches). It packs a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal flash, a 16GB microSD card, eight-megapixel main ...
