Today's dose of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean should appeal to those who are on AT&T and are rocking the Samsung Galaxy S III. The phone is joining the refresh party finally and its update is available via the KIES proprietary software. According to reports the system version is bumped to Android 4.1.1 and, after AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, it is now time for the Verizon variant to be updated. However, if you have the Droid RAZR HD or the RAZR Maxx HD on Verizon, Android 4.1 should pop up over-the-air after you get a notification of its existence. If you haven't yet, make sure to check ...

1080p displays. On smartphones. I never thought I'd see the day, but it's here. Call the front desk; I'm checking out. No but, for real: around these parts, the notion of full-HD resolution -1920 x 1080- on a smartphone screen has for months prompted a range of reactions, from skepticism to disbelief to glee. Listeners of the Pocketnow Weekly podcast can sometimes hear that entire range in one sitting: pixel-density enthusiast Brandon Miniman is keen on the absurdly high-density panels, while I often profess not to be able to tell the difference. Anton D. Nagy, Joe Levi, or Jaime ...

Motorola's Droid RAZR HD and its high-battery-capacity fraternal brother, the RAZR Maxx HD, landed at Verizon last month. We've put the phone through its paces since then, and were ultimately quite pleased with what Motorola managed to come up with. In particular, we were big fans of the phone's new 720p display, a marked improvement from the qHD original. Not everyone's been so enamored with the phone's screen, though, as reports come in of some weird display corruption issues. The discoloration exhibited by this effect is just bizarre. As you can check out in the image above, it's ...

As Motorola users are all too aware, while the company does an admirable job of trying to let users know about the Android update situation for each of its models, it has a nasty habit of going back on previous plans to bring updates to certain models. As such, whenever the company gets around to updating that list, we find ourselves walking on eggshells. So, what's the news today? This update focuses on plans for Jelly Bean upgrades. To that end, Motorola lists a dozen models that it currently plans to bring Android 4.1 to. Some of the devices listed have ETAs attached to them; the three ...

If you were waiting for the Motorola Droid RAZR HD and its 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD screen paired with a 1.5GHz dual-core SoC to land on Verizon (and its larger battery-equipped twin, the RAZR MAXX HD), you can now have it. The RAZR HD goes for $199 with a two-year contract ($599.99 outright) and the RAZR HD MAXX for $299 with its respective commitment ($649.99 sans). If you're a power user you'd probably be interested in the RAZR HD Developer Edition (sorry folks, no RAZR MAXX HD Developer Edition yet) and its unlockable bootloader. It costs $599.99, same as from Verizon outright, but ...

Motorola's initial announcement of the Droid RAZR HD, RAZR Maxx HD, and RAZR M already seems like a distant memory. Five weeks ago, the trio was revealed for Verizon, and though the RAZR M went up for sale just a short time thereafter, we didn't get much of an idea of when to expect the other two to arrive. Since then, we speculated that we'd be seeing a retail launch sometime in October, though those hopes were interrupted by new rumors of hardware problems. Well, it looks like that was either off-base or got resolved quickly, as today Verizon revealed both models will go up for sale on ...

When are we going to see the Motorola Droid RAZR HD and RAZR Maxx HD arrive? When the manufacturer and Verizon announced the phones, we didn't get a real specific window as to when to expect them. Since then, we've tried to work out the puzzle on our own a little, looking to news of an October launch of the RAZR HD in Germany as a sign that the US retail debut would be sometime between now and then. A new rumor, however opens the possibility that these two could be seeing some last minute delays, supposedly due to antenna problems. According to sources within the companies, concerns over ...

Motorola announced three new phones in New York City today just after Nokia announced a couple new phones a few blocks away. We've got a few demos of the new Droid RAZR models on video below, so click on to see the Droid RAZR M, Droid RAZR HD, and Droid RAZR Maxx HD in action. The RAZR HD and RAZR Maxx HD are extremely similar. There are no markings to distinguish between which is which. We had to snap on the macro lens and get really really close just to see the difference in thickness. It's not noticeable at all when holding the devices. The RAZR M feels great in the hand too and doesn't ...

After a surprise introduction from Google's Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt, waxing nostalgic on just how far smartphones have come, Motorola announced its new series of Droid RAZR Androids. First off, we've got the rumored RAZR HD, the "most compact big-screen smartphone". It's got a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD screen with supposedly 85% more color saturation than an iPhone 4S. It packs a 2500mAh battery, with 16 hours of rated talk time. Despite the large-ish battery, it's only 8.4 millimeters thick. The phone's powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core SoC, has a gigabyte of RAM, NFC support, and an ...
