HTC's been talking about its Jelly Bean update strategy for months now, with some early statements back in July more recently followed up by news that the One V, and the majority of other 512MB devices, wouldn't be seeing the update land. We've seen the One X start getting its JB update, but what about HTC's other Androids with sufficient RAM? Well, the manufacturer has yet to release a comprehensive list, only saying that it would first concentrate its efforts on 2012 releases, but a list has leaked over the weekend that attempts to enumerate just which handsets are on HTC's agenda. This ...

A little earlier today, we mentioned the news that a new update for the Samsung Galaxy S II on T-Mobile seemed to imply that Isis NFC-based mobile payments would soon be available to the smartphone's users. Now we have a few more details to add, including just when the service will go up, where it will be available, and what other phones will work. Back in February, we heard that the first-wave launch would be in Salt Lake City, UT, and Austin, TX. That was supposed to take place sometime this summer, but we didn't know quite when. It's now been confirmed that those two are still the ...

I’ve learned that there are two things about being a mobile-phone reviewer. The first thing: you get to handle awesome gadgetry days or weeks ahead of its official release date, and you’re not just allowed to use the heck out of it; you need to, in order to do your job. That’s the awesome thing. The other, less-awesome thing: you eventually have to give it all back. “Empty Nest” is a recurring column discussing what I miss -and what I don’t- about the devices I’ve had to return. ___ The HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE came to my door as all devices do: in the midst of a ...

The latest little Droid Incredible is here. It sounds like a kids' cartoon show about a heroic but diminutive robot, but it's not. It's a smartphone. Actually, it's more than just a smartphone, or an HTC phone, or even an Android phone. This device is a "Droid." The brand that catapulted Android into relevance in the United States. To most Americans, any Android phone is a "Droid;" the terms are interchangeable to the common person. But that's not how Verizon sees it. Though the carrier offers many Android-based smartphones, it reserves the "Droid" moniker for the devices it plans on ...

Well, it took nearly two months after Verizon said the phone would arrive "in the coming weeks", but the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE is finally here. Luckily, the phone didn't show up with the preposterous $300 on-contract price we first saw attached to the handset, nor even with a $200 one, but became available for just $150 when Verizon released it yesterday. The ink on the phone's "for sale" sign has yet to even dry, and we're already learning of some steep discounts available for the Android. The Droid Incredible 4G LTE sounds like a very capable phone, and for all intents and purposes ...

It was about time Verizon and Droid fans got the opportunity to grab the latest member of the family. On July 2, the carrier announced that the phone will be available starting July 5 and, as promised, you are now able to get yours. While the four-inch Super LCD qHD screen might be a tad lower specced than HD displays -- there's also a 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, and an eight-megapixel main camera -- the price is kind of attractive. You'll pay $149.99 with a two-year contract for the Droid Incredible 4G LTE but if you don't want to commit, the phone can be yours for $499.99. Follow ...

Late last week, HTC sent out a tweet that appeared to finally confirm what we had all been hearing, that the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE would make its retail debut on Verizon sometime this week. Since July 5 had been mentioned as a possible release date before, that seemed like the obvious candidate. Sure enough, Verizon has now come through with an announcement of its own, confirming that date and finally revealing the smartphone's price. There were some early Droid Incredible 4G LTE discoveries, all the way back in April, that might have had you thinking the phone would launch with a ...
