Now that cellphone image sensors have evolved beyond the dark days of sub-megapixel blockiness, photo quality has become an important determinant when choosing among handsets. To that end, we've collected sample shots from some upcoming models, hopefully giving you a basic idea of what to expect when you release the shutter. Of course, as we've noted before, test shots from pre-release devices often don't represent the output from shipping products: camera firmware, which plays just as important a role as sensor quality, is often tweaked right up until the last minute. In situations where ...

Back in August, we got a look at Motorola's Droid HD, and shortly thereafter heard a rumor that the phone was being developed under the codename Spyder. Flash-forward to this month, and we uncovered a test pic taken by a Motorola model identifying itself as a Droid RAZR. A new rumor says that all of these are the same upcoming smartphone. According to the source, the handset will be dual-core and feature a 4.3-inch qHD AMOLED display; we haven't heard if it will also use a screen without a PenTile matrix, as we've heard the Motorola Edison will. Beyond that, the phone is said to feature ...

We already know that a device called the Droid HD has been taking test photos. The Droid HD might be one of the most highest spec'ed devices in the Droid lineage yet, packing a 4.5" qHD (or even 1280x720) display, an 8MP camera on the back with 1080p video capture, and a super thin bezel. Despite its thinness, it still makes room for an HDMI output and dedicated camera button. Still unknown are details about its shipping Android version (we're hoping for Ice Cream Sandwich) or its processor, RAM, etc. Engadget has posted some images that give us a first real glimpse of the upcoming ...

A couple days ago we got a look at the Motorola Droid HD, after first hearing the name earlier this summer. Droid-life noticed the similarity between the smartphone and a rumored Motorola Android we caught wind of earlier, but could they be one and the same? In mid-July we heard a rumor about a Motorola called Dinara. It was supposed to have a 4.5-inch screen possibly in HD and be a thinner, lighter Bionic. Looking back at the Droid HD, it's easy to see how they could make that connection. Apparently, at least according to a source with Verizon, the Droid HD isn't the Dinara at all, ...

Usually one to keep its EXIF data pretty close the to chest, Motorola may have slipped up and revealed an intriguing new model by way of some Flickr images: the Motorola Droid HD. Notably, the shots were captured in Libertyville, Illinois, where Motorola happens to have a campus. Obviously the name brings to mind immediate connotations of a phone with 720p resolution, which would best even the Retina and qHD displays found on the iPhone 4 and high-end Android handsets, respectively. Such a large number of pixels is not out of the realm of possibility, as the next Nexus device (said to once ...

Motorola's been dropping some extra-thick hints that it intends to reveal the Droid RAZR (aka Spyder, Droid HD) at an event with Verizon in New York City a week from today. We can't do anything about making that week pass any faster, but in the meantime there are some new pics of the phone for you to check out, including our first look at the handset with Verizon badging. It's nice to get a chance to see the RAZR in the flesh again, rather than the rendered image we had from earlier (although there have been some sharp pictures from even farther back in development when we were still ...

Samsung may have had to postpone it's Unpacked event with Google, and while we'll have to keep waiting if we want to see what we're all expecting to be the Galaxy Prime along with Ice Cream Sandwich, it looks like we'll have product reveals from other manufacturers to deal with in the meantime, with Motorola just sending out invitations for an event it's throwing with Verizon scheduled for next week, October 18. Motorola invites attendees to check out "the next big innovation" it's been working on. That sounds a lot like a product announcement, so what could it be? We've heard of a Droid 4 ...
