HTC's Droid DNA is the American version of the HTC J Butterfly, the manufacturer's first 1080p Android. The handset features 2GB of RAM, a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC, and 16GB flash storage. It has an 8-megapixel main camera, 2.1-megapixel front-facer, and arrives running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The five-inch HD display is protected by Gorilla Glass 2, and the phone is equipped with a 2020mAh battery.

LG's Optimus G is a powerhouse of a phone. It's got a 1.5 Quad-core S4 Pro SoC with 2GB RAM on board. Today we learned of a new phone with almost identical specs: the HTC Droid DNA. There's one significant difference between the two phones: the number of pixels on the screen. The screen on the Optimus G is a little better than 720P HD at 1280x768, which is 983,040 total pixels.  HTC's Droid DNA has a 1080P HD screen (1920x1080) which equates to 2,073,600 pixels -- yes, well over two million pixels! Higher resolutions require significantly more calculations just to keep up. Compared to ...

HTC's Droid DNA has been one of the worst-kept secrets in recent memory; if all the leaked pics of the phone weren't enough to convince us that it was soon to land at Verizon, the two separate incidents where Verizon unintentionally confirmed the phone on its public websites should have manged to remove any trace of doubt. As a result, when HTC and Verizon sent out invitations last week for a press event this morning, news of the Droid DNA seemed nearly guaranteed. Sure enough, the two companies have gone forward and officially announced the Droid DNA. The five-inch 1080p Android is ...

The last couple days have been busy ones for the HTC Droid DNA, getting ready to launch on Verizon. Over the weekend, we checked out a newly-leaked render of the handset, and overnight we heard a bit about how the handset might be arriving internationally. With Verizon and HTC's press event scheduled for tomorrow, we should soon be getting a bunch of new details on just how the 1080p Android will arrive. Until then, we've got one more rumor to take a look at, attempting to narrow-down just when the Droid DNA would finally go up for sale. We've heard rumors of both a November 20 retail ...

We're expecting the Verizon Droid DNA made by HTC to be unveiled at tomorrow's event and with all the rumors and recent press render leaks we have a pretty good idea of what to expect: it will be a Big Red variant of some sort of the HTC J Butterfly which was recently introduced for the Japanese market by the manufacturer. The images above and below seem to be consistent with the press render we've seen representing the Droid DNA, with slight changes (though the accented camera on the back seems to follow the design guidelines used by HTC recently in its One X+). Strangely this phone is ...

We've heard a lot about the phone which has changed many names in the recent past (DIX, DLX, DNA, etc.) to finally settle for one. The Droid DNA by HTC is believed to be unveiled in a joint Verizon-HTC event on November 13 in New York. We've seen press renders leak alongside real-life pictures of the device. The render above claims and looks to be the final press render of the phone. There's nothing here we didn't know until now but, as usual, when official press renders surface it means that official wording is close. The Droid DNA is expected to have, according to reports, a five-inch ...

We just got done checking out the latest HTC Droid DNA leak to come out of Verizon, making it look like the carrier was nearly ready to introduce the five-inch 1080p handset, but not leaving us with any new information about precisely when the phone might launch. Well, that could all be about to change, as HTC and Verizon just sent out invitations to a press event for later in the month that will almost certainly be used to announce the Droid DNA. The joint event will take place in one week from today, on November 13. The invitation itself doesn't offer any specific hints about the ...

Over the course of the past week, HTC's five-inch 1080p Droid DNA has started seeming a whole lot closer to being confirmed, first with the phone getting mentioned by name on a Verizon support page, and later upon the leak of a couple press renders of the handset. The arrival of one of those leaks came with the rumor that the phone might launch in early December. While we wait to hear something a little more specific, a new Verizon leak shows the carrier preparing for the DNA's arrival. Here, we can see Verizon using the branding "Droid DNA by HTC", which may be how the the phone finally ...

After hearing plenty of different names tied to HTC's upcoming five-inch 1080p Android, the specifics of the phone's US launch have finally started to feel like they're coming together, and it's been looking likely that the phone would arrive at Verizon as the HTC Droid DNA. When that name appeared on the carrier's website earlier this week, attached to the model number we associated with this hardware, that theory was sounding more probable than ever. Today we get some more evidence for that name thanks to the release of a leaked render, as well some claims that seek to narrow-down just ...

Ever since the HTC J Butterfly went official for Japan, we've been awaiting confirmation of how the phone would make its arrival in the US. Last week, we saw a leak out of Verizon which suggested that the five-inch 1080p Android, identified by model number 6435LVW, would launch on the carrier as the HTC Droid DNA. While Verizon has still yet to issue a formal statement, that's now looking essentially confirmed, as that name has popped-up yet again, this time on the company's public-facing website. One of Verizon's smartphone support pages provides instructions for soft resetting phones ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about our full hands-on of T-Mobile's new Samsung Galaxy Note II. Then we go through the recent leaks of a Galaxy Note II variant coming to Verizon with some awkward branding changes. We later talk about the LG Spectrum 2 which will probably shine as a good product, but which is sadly no Optimus G variant for Verizon. Then we go through the new leaks of the HTC J Butterfly now being dubbed the HTC Droid DNA in Verizon and no longer the DIX or DLX. We end today's show by talking about Apple's launch of the iPad mini and the surprise of a ...
