As you may have heard, Verizon's been having a bad day with its LTE network, experiencing its first major outage. While these things happen, and we trust that Verizon will resolve things ASAP, the situation has developed into one that's starting to concern us as smartphone aficionados, with rumors spreading that a downed LTE network could force the postponement of tomorrow's scheduled Droid Charge launch. Verizon hasn't speculated yet as to what will happen tomorrow, but a few statements it's made in regards to the LTE outage don't add up to a bright outlook for Charge sales. The heart of ...

Verizon's confirmed that Samsung's Droid Charge will be arriving this Thursday, April 28, and though we haven't gotten any official statement that the HTC Droid Incredible 2 will be joining it, all indications from leaked documents suggest that it, too, will be going up for sale. Just days away from their anticipated releases, both phones are making an appearance in Best Buy's Mobile Phone Buyer's Guide for May. We spotted a placeholder page Verizon's erected for the Incredible 2, and if that and the rumored release this week weren't enough, accessories for the new Droid have been arriving ...

Earlier today we looked at an alternate battery cover for the HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon, letting the phone recharge wirelessly, Palm-Pre-style, when paired with an inductive charging pad. We already knew the LG Revolution was going to end up getting a similar accessory, and now one's shown up for yet another Verizon phone, the upcoming Samsung Droid Charge. It really looks like Verizon is going all-in with these inductive charge adapters, and there's the real potential to see adapters for many of the carrier's future smartphones. Fulton Innovation showed off some of these at the MWC this ...

Verizon has officially launched the Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone introduced at CES as the Samsung Droid Charge, giving it an April 28th release date and hefty $300-on-contract price. Verizon's other LTE-capable handset, the HTC Thunderbolt, retails for a subsidized $250. As rumored, the 4.3-inch Charge will offer class-leading hotspot capabilities with its ability to connect to up to 10 devices simultaneously; hotspot functionality will be offered free for an unspecified introductory period. Powered by a 1GHz processor, the Froyo-equipped Droid Charge packs an eight-megapixel rear camera ...

While launch or promo materials arriving doesn't necessarily mean much, it's definitely a confirmation of a nearing launch especially now that we heard the Samsung Droid Charge for Verizon is looking good for an April 28 release. Marketing materials are showing up at Verizon stores talking about "blazing 4G speed with jaw-dropping Super AMOLED screen". Additionally, a couple of third party reseller locations are getting cases and other accessories for the Samsung Droid Charge which together with the other pieces of the puzzle start to create a nice image. In the past few weeks Samsung's Droid Charge has been the subject of several rumored release dates, none of which have turned out to be correct. It wasn't here on April 7, didn't show on April 14, and the latest we've heard has the Charge set for an April 28 retail debut. Today a leaked Costco phone roadmap adds some credence to that last date, and give us a little insight into what's been going on with the Motorola Bionic. The 28th, one week from Thursday, could end up being Droid Day, if both the Charge and the Incredible 2 are simultaneously released. We'd heard this date for the Charge ...

Verizon has begun training it's employees on Samsung's Droid Charge, it's latest Android LTE Smartphone, and the first non-Motorola device to feature the Droid "red eye". The Droid Charge support for up to 10 simultaneously connected devices on it's Wi-Fi hotspot, which is two devices more than the runner up, HTC's Thunderbolt. Support for all 10 devices will only be available while connected to 4G, when connected to 3G support is limited to five devices. While this extensive hotspot support won't appeal to the majority of users, there are certainly a select few who will jump at the ...

If you've been eyeing a smartphone that's lined-up to arrive with Verizon but have been a bit nervous about what your dream phone will end up costing, we may have some relief in store for you, as a leaked copy of the pricing structure for several upcoming Verizon models has arrived. While some of the prices are a relief, if only because they don't seem too over-inflated, a few stand out as models for which Verizon thinks you'll pay a premium. The Droid Charge is still listed at $300, the same as on the last price sheet that leaked out, making it one of the carrier's most expensive ...

As we build up to the Samsung Droid Charge's release, we're seeing more and more of all the pictures, database listings, and documents that normally converge in the weeks and days leading up to a phone's retail arrival. Earlier today we found the Charge hiding in Walmart's computers, a couple weeks after uncovering some Droid-branded press shots. Now Samsung's published the Charge's source code in its Open Source Release Center, making it seem like the only thing we're still waiting for is the phone itself. The Charge's source is up for download right now at the Samsung OSRC, but you'll ...

Although its rumored release date of April 7th has come and gone, we're still expecting Verizon's LTE-capable Samsung Droid Charge to see a release before the end of the month, and its appearance at Walmart likely means that we're only a few days from a general rollout. At a rumored $300 on contract, Charge would be one of the more expensive handsets on the market, although that price should quickly plummet thanks to competing third-party retailers. With a four-inch, WVGA Super AMOLED display and 1GHz processor, the Droid Charge offers a fairly attractive feature set, although its 4G data ...

A leaked copy of what purported to be Verizon's schedule for upcoming phone releases showed up last week, putting Samsung's Droid Charge up for sale yesterday. As you can guess by now, that hasn't exactly happened. While we await the Charge to finally make its retail debut, its accessories are starting to show up in advance, with the Charge's multimedia dock already on store shelves. It's too early to say if that whole leaked timetable is bogus or not, but we should consider at least that it was marked "subject to change", and listed releases all the way back through mid-March. If the list ...

Maybe we're getting too used to seeing a $200 price for new phones on-contract, and there really should be more variation in prices. When notable phones - like the Thunderbolt as the first LTE smartphone - arrive, we can stomach a little premium price for the bragging rights, but will higher prices for similar phones become the norm? A leaked pricing chart shows that the Samsung Droid Charge will debut on Verizon at nearly $300. Yes, the Charge will have a nice, big Super AMOLED Plus screen, and yes, it will reach LTE speeds, but does that justify the price? Maybe if it was dual-core or ...

Looks like Verizon's future short term roadmap has been leaked and it contains orientative dates, subject to change, of the upcoming devices the carrier has in store for April and May. According to the table attached, April 7 is the date to watch for Samsung's 4G LTE device, called the Droid Charge, with its 4.3-inch display and4G LTE compatibility. Same day the Casio Commando (image) should hit too, a rugged Android device a la Motorola Defy. A week after, on April 14, it's time for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play which we knew to expect on the carrier. April 15 looks to be the date for the ...

Samsung revealed its 4G LTE Android smartphone at today's Verizon press conference, but as with the other hardware announcements, the Samsung executive presenting it didn't provide many details -- including its name. Simply referred to as Samsung's 4G LTE smartphone, this device which we've known as SCH-i520 features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, the same technology seen in AT&T's Samsung Infuse 4G (though not quite its 4.5-inch size). Also on board are an HD-capable eight-megapixel camera (probably the same 1080p shooter in the Infuse) as well as 1.3-megapixel front-facing cam for ...
