Another day, another no-Droid-Charges-up-for-sale. Well, not officially, anyway. Verizon's still getting its ducks in a row following last week's launch that didn't happen, but we've heard about the stray store here and there letting a few go to lucky customers in advance of Verizon giving the go-ahead. Walmart's apparently trying to avoid such incidents with a notice posted for its mobile sales employees, forbidding sales for the time being, noting that Verizon won't support activating the phones due to "an issue with functionality in their system". While claiming that Verizon isn't ...

After aborting the Droid Charge's launch at the last minute, Verizon's been dragging its feet about finally getting the smartphone off the ground. Retailers seemed confused about what to do, as evidenced by the leaked Costco documents we've seen, reflecting an ever-changing release schedule, reports of delays, and uncertainty as to Verizon's plans. It should be no surprise, then, that we're hearing reports of Best Buy stores going ahead with Droid Charge sales ahead of schedule. With inventories already in place at retailers, it's easy to imagine any number of situations where one of these ...

A leaked Costco screenshot from last week made it look like the retailer would be receiving its stock of Samsung Droid Charge 4G smartphones today, with explicit instructions not to start selling any of them until tomorrow, May 3. At the bottom of that shot was a line we largely glossed over, reading, "confirmation of a revised launch date will be sent Monday." Costco was wise to warn its employees to look for an update today, as it now appear that further delays have crept up, and though a new launch date isn't yet available, it's clear that it won't be May 3. Presumably, Costco stores ...

Everyone expected the Verizon Droid Charge to launch last week but an LTE outage seems to have ruined everything. Now that LTE has been restored, it should only be a matter of days until Verizon outs the highly anticipated Samsung Droid Charge. May 3 is the word on the street. According to the screenshot above, Costco will get the smartphone on May 2 and there's a big ugly "do not sell until May 3" flag to make you all wait just one more day. If this info turns out to be accurate, the Verizon Droid Charge will meet its new owners on Tuesday next week and not only via Costco but (it's safe ...

Yesterday, with Verizon LTE service still down, we started getting nervous about the prospects for today's planned launch of the Samsung Droid Charge. While Verizon wouldn't speculate as to what would happen today, company policies certainly gave the impression that, failing an LTE resurrection, anyone looking to buy a Charge today would be out of luck. While the day has started off with no Charge to be found, a newly-restored LTE network means we could end up seeing the phone, after all. Verizon had said that it would not be activating any LTE-capable phones until its LTE network was ...

As you may have heard, Verizon's been having a bad day with its LTE network, experiencing its first major outage. While these things happen, and we trust that Verizon will resolve things ASAP, the situation has developed into one that's starting to concern us as smartphone aficionados, with rumors spreading that a downed LTE network could force the postponement of tomorrow's scheduled Droid Charge launch. Verizon hasn't speculated yet as to what will happen tomorrow, but a few statements it's made in regards to the LTE outage don't add up to a bright outlook for Charge sales. The heart of ...

Verizon's confirmed that Samsung's Droid Charge will be arriving this Thursday, April 28, and though we haven't gotten any official statement that the HTC Droid Incredible 2 will be joining it, all indications from leaked documents suggest that it, too, will be going up for sale. Just days away from their anticipated releases, both phones are making an appearance in Best Buy's Mobile Phone Buyer's Guide for May. We spotted a placeholder page Verizon's erected for the Incredible 2, and if that and the rumored release this week weren't enough, accessories for the new Droid have been arriving ...

The Verizon-bound Samsung Droid Charge made its way to Walmart even before the smartphone itself was announced and now is available on pre-order at the same Walmart but $50 cheaper. The Droid Charge will go for $299.99 from Verizon on contract but you can now pre-order the smartphone at Walmart for $249.99. Shipping is free and if you pre-order you'll be able to meet its 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display in person by the end of next week. Other features include a 1GHz processor, eight-megapixel rear camera along with 1.3-megapixel front-facing webcam powered by Google Android 2.2 Froyo. ...

Earlier today we looked at an alternate battery cover for the HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon, letting the phone recharge wirelessly, Palm-Pre-style, when paired with an inductive charging pad. We already knew the LG Revolution was going to end up getting a similar accessory, and now one's shown up for yet another Verizon phone, the upcoming Samsung Droid Charge. It really looks like Verizon is going all-in with these inductive charge adapters, and there's the real potential to see adapters for many of the carrier's future smartphones. Fulton Innovation showed off some of these at the MWC this ...

Verizon has officially launched the Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone introduced at CES as the Samsung Droid Charge, giving it an April 28th release date and hefty $300-on-contract price. Verizon's other LTE-capable handset, the HTC Thunderbolt, retails for a subsidized $250. As rumored, the 4.3-inch Charge will offer class-leading hotspot capabilities with its ability to connect to up to 10 devices simultaneously; hotspot functionality will be offered free for an unspecified introductory period. Powered by a 1GHz processor, the Froyo-equipped Droid Charge packs an eight-megapixel rear camera ...

While launch or promo materials arriving doesn't necessarily mean much, it's definitely a confirmation of a nearing launch especially now that we heard the Samsung Droid Charge for Verizon is looking good for an April 28 release. Marketing materials are showing up at Verizon stores talking about "blazing 4G speed with jaw-dropping Super AMOLED screen". Additionally, a couple of third party reseller locations are getting cases and other accessories for the Samsung Droid Charge which together with the other pieces of the puzzle start to create a nice image. In the past few weeks Samsung's Droid Charge has been the subject of several rumored release dates, none of which have turned out to be correct. It wasn't here on April 7, didn't show on April 14, and the latest we've heard has the Charge set for an April 28 retail debut. Today a leaked Costco phone roadmap adds some credence to that last date, and give us a little insight into what's been going on with the Motorola Bionic. The 28th, one week from Thursday, could end up being Droid Day, if both the Charge and the Incredible 2 are simultaneously released. We'd heard this date for the Charge ...

Verizon has begun training it's employees on Samsung's Droid Charge, it's latest Android LTE Smartphone, and the first non-Motorola device to feature the Droid "red eye". The Droid Charge support for up to 10 simultaneously connected devices on it's Wi-Fi hotspot, which is two devices more than the runner up, HTC's Thunderbolt. Support for all 10 devices will only be available while connected to 4G, when connected to 3G support is limited to five devices. While this extensive hotspot support won't appeal to the majority of users, there are certainly a select few who will jump at the ...

If you've been eyeing a smartphone that's lined-up to arrive with Verizon but have been a bit nervous about what your dream phone will end up costing, we may have some relief in store for you, as a leaked copy of the pricing structure for several upcoming Verizon models has arrived. While some of the prices are a relief, if only because they don't seem too over-inflated, a few stand out as models for which Verizon thinks you'll pay a premium. The Droid Charge is still listed at $300, the same as on the last price sheet that leaked out, making it one of the carrier's most expensive ...

As we build up to the Samsung Droid Charge's release, we're seeing more and more of all the pictures, database listings, and documents that normally converge in the weeks and days leading up to a phone's retail arrival. Earlier today we found the Charge hiding in Walmart's computers, a couple weeks after uncovering some Droid-branded press shots. Now Samsung's published the Charge's source code in its Open Source Release Center, making it seem like the only thing we're still waiting for is the phone itself. The Charge's source is up for download right now at the Samsung OSRC, but you'll ...

Although its rumored release date of April 7th has come and gone, we're still expecting Verizon's LTE-capable Samsung Droid Charge to see a release before the end of the month, and its appearance at Walmart likely means that we're only a few days from a general rollout. At a rumored $300 on contract, Charge would be one of the more expensive handsets on the market, although that price should quickly plummet thanks to competing third-party retailers. With a four-inch, WVGA Super AMOLED display and 1GHz processor, the Droid Charge offers a fairly attractive feature set, although its 4G data ...

A leaked copy of what purported to be Verizon's schedule for upcoming phone releases showed up last week, putting Samsung's Droid Charge up for sale yesterday. As you can guess by now, that hasn't exactly happened. While we await the Charge to finally make its retail debut, its accessories are starting to show up in advance, with the Charge's multimedia dock already on store shelves. It's too early to say if that whole leaked timetable is bogus or not, but we should consider at least that it was marked "subject to change", and listed releases all the way back through mid-March. If the list ...

Maybe we're getting too used to seeing a $200 price for new phones on-contract, and there really should be more variation in prices. When notable phones - like the Thunderbolt as the first LTE smartphone - arrive, we can stomach a little premium price for the bragging rights, but will higher prices for similar phones become the norm? A leaked pricing chart shows that the Samsung Droid Charge will debut on Verizon at nearly $300. Yes, the Charge will have a nice, big Super AMOLED Plus screen, and yes, it will reach LTE speeds, but does that justify the price? Maybe if it was dual-core or ...

Looks like Verizon's future short term roadmap has been leaked and it contains orientative dates, subject to change, of the upcoming devices the carrier has in store for April and May. According to the table attached, April 7 is the date to watch for Samsung's 4G LTE device, called the Droid Charge, with its 4.3-inch display and4G LTE compatibility. Same day the Casio Commando (image) should hit too, a rugged Android device a la Motorola Defy. A week after, on April 14, it's time for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play which we knew to expect on the carrier. April 15 looks to be the date for the ...

Samsung revealed its 4G LTE Android smartphone at today's Verizon press conference, but as with the other hardware announcements, the Samsung executive presenting it didn't provide many details -- including its name. Simply referred to as Samsung's 4G LTE smartphone, this device which we've known as SCH-i520 features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, the same technology seen in AT&T's Samsung Infuse 4G (though not quite its 4.5-inch size). Also on board are an HD-capable eight-megapixel camera (probably the same 1080p shooter in the Infuse) as well as 1.3-megapixel front-facing cam for ...

Two unannounced Samsung handsets have just received Bluetooth certification: one is very likely to be the 4.3-inch Samsung Stealth V (i.e. SCH-i510) leaked back in November, and the other may be the followup to Verizon's Fascinate, a.k.a. the Samsung Galaxy S 2. We say "may be the followup" because at this point all we have to go on are a model number and a little bit of educated guesswork. Known for now as SCH-i559, this Bluetooth 3.0-compliant device hasn't yet been seen in any other databases, leading us to believe that it's still a few months out; even Samsung's Android-powered LTE ...

Samsung's nameless 4G LTE Android handset on Verizon may end up being named the Samsung Verdict, based on evidence from trademark filings. While Samsung refused to even refer to the 4.3-inch device by its SCH-i520 model number when introducing it at Verizon's LTE news conference at CES yesterday, it turns out that Sammy filed for two other trademarks on the same day that it sought protection on the brand that would become its other new phone at this show, the upcoming Infuse 4G on AT&T. Those marks are "Indulge" and "Verdict;" however, with Indulge the rumored branding of an unannounced ...

We're pretty sure that Verizon is going to reveal the Samsung SCH-i520 among its first LTE smartphones tomorrow, but as is usually the case these days, this handset seems to have shown up a little early thanks to that leaky faucet of an etailer Offwire. Just days after tipping dozens of accessories for the upcoming Verizon iPhone 4, the company is back in the news with more cases for an unannounced device, this time giving us the first clear view of its face. We have to say that we're digging the physical buttons up front, as one of our main gripes with the Galaxy S models is their ...

With all eyes on the HTC Thunderbolt, Verizon's other two upcoming 4G LTE smartphones have fallen out of the spotlight somewhat, but it looks like Samsung's SCH-i510 "Stealth V" may be inching closer to its own release -- at least if the appearance of accessories at Walmart is any clue (and it usually is). Plus, we just saw i510 out in the wild courtesy of TechnoBuffalo, and it seems to be increasing the amount of test shots it uploads to Picasa, both of which are fairly good indicators of an impending rollout. Packing a single-core, gigahertz-class processor, 4.3-inch SuperAMOLED Plus ...

Samsung's first 4G LTE smartphone, known as Stealth or i510, cleared the FCC just about a week ago. Verizon-bound, it features an ample 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus display, Android 2.2, an 8MP camera on the back, and a 1.3MP shooter up front. These leaked shots, procured by TechnoBuffalo, show the big and bright screen in its fully glory, plus the nice-sized hardware keys beneath the display. The photos show the Stealth running with Launcher Pro, though it'll ship with the latest version of Samsung's TouchWiz. According to the tipster, the Stealth is pitted for a mid-April launch. The person ...
