We knew it was coming as it was supposed to be launched today and Verizon itself managed to leak details a couple of hours prior to the official press release. The carrier has just announced the Motorola Droid 3, "the next Generation DROID delivering power and performance" We've come a long way since the original Droid, at least in terms of specs, and the Droid 3 delivers a lot more horsepower under a relatively familiar hood. To offer all that power, there's a dual-core 1 GHz processor for fast multi-tasking, an eight-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording capability, four-inch ...

The recently launched Verizon Motorola Droid 3, currently on a great BOGO deal at the carrier, has been dismantled to expose the same 3G chip that Apple is using in its iPhone 4. Deep under the plastic of the Motorola Droid 3 lays silicone from Qualcomm. The chip is the Qualcomm MDM6600 3G model which is the same as the one to be found in Apple's CDMA iPhone 4 variant for the same carrier. Unlike the Cupertino product though, the Droid 3 is a world phone that can be used in Europe too over GSM network. For those of you enjoying device teardowns, head over to the source link and see the ...

Verizon launched the Motorola Droid 3 two weeks ago and the phone is already available, as of July 14, going for $199 on a two-year contract. What else could be better than this price? Getting another Droid 3 for free! Verizon has put up a BOGO deal for the Motorola Droid 3. If you purchase a phone for $199 on a two-year contract you get an additional Droid 3 for free. Of course the second Droid 3 needs a contract too but you basically get a $200 discount on a phone featuring a dual-core 1 GHz processor, eight-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording capability, four-inch qHD ...

The Motorola Droid 3, officially announced by Verison at the beginning of July is also known as the Motorola Milestone 3 as it's been launched under this name in China at the middle of June. It is now coming to Bell Canada under the name Motorola XT860 4G. According to Motorola, the XT860 4G will be available exclusively to Bell Mobility clients this summer. Specs-wise it is what you'd expect from the Droid 3: Android 2.3 Gingerbread on-board, full QWERTY slide-out keyboard, eight-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture, 1 GHz Dual-core processor, 16GB on board memory plus support for ...

Those who have been waiting patiently for yesterday's announcement bringing the Droid 3 to Verizon's line-up can be a bit bitter as it turns out the smartphone is shipping with a locked bootloader. According to the Motorola Owners' Forum Manager, the Droid 3 "does not have an unlocked bootloader". With the entire recent buzz around Motorola and its bootloaders -- the manufacturer promised unlocks as of late 2011 -- we were expecting the Droid 3 to ship accordingly. Motorola reaffirmed its commitment to unlockable/relockable bootloaders but it appears that the Droid 3, along with other ...

The original Motorola Droid, released in the fall of 2009, was the first in a long line of Android-powered devices that helped Verizon create a brand that is now used, in some (frustrating) cases, as the generic word to describe any phone running Android ("Hey dude...is that a Droid?" "Uhm, it's an Inspire 4G. It runs Android, so yes, it's a Droid!"). The original Droid, much like its two successors (the Droid 2 and the recently announced Droid 3), have kept with the same form factor: side-sliding QWERTY. Each new generation of Droid has upped the ante in terms of specs, with the latest ...

Verizon should make the Motorola Droid 3 public and available today, at least according to the things we've recently heard and the carrier seems to be well prepared to do just so. The phone is featured on Verizon's website with details as well as pricing. The Motorola Droid 3 officially appears on Verizon's website under the New Products category but clicking brings you to a dedicated page that's not currently live (yet). If you go to Droid Does on the other hand, you will see all the details you're interested in plus a bonus: pricing. As we've heard yesterday, the Motorola Droid 3 will ...

As near as we can tell, Verizon is set to start selling the Motorola Droid 3 tomorrow, though you wouldn't know it from asking the carrier; despite all the leaked screenshot of internal computers referencing the Droid 3, the leaked training documents, and dummy units showing up in Verizon stores, there still hasn't been any official announcement for the smartphone. We're hoping that's all going to change tomorrow, as July 7 is rumored to be the day that Verizon will finally begin sales, offering the Droid 3 through direct fulfillment before it arrives in stores the following week. Just in ...

The Motorola Droid Bionic has a story of its own and recently, after being re-affirmed for a summer release, it has passed by FCC with its LTE radio en-route to Verizon. If there's any truth in the screenshot above, Verizon is planning to launch the Motorola Droid Bionic on August 4. Taken into consideration that the phone was shown-off at this year's CES, after seven months, it will be finally launched, in its redesigned state. While there's nothing certain about the dates mentioned above, it definitely is a good indication of things to come (aside from another confirmation of the Droid 3 ...

There are pretty strong indications that Verizon and Motorola will announce the Droid 3 soon as the smartphone is expected to hit stores in July 14 after an initial July 7 direct fulfillment availability. Besides the leaked Verizon document to come as an indirect confirmation the carrier has put up a 360 degree look at the Droid 3 which has been leaked. Droid-life managed to save a couple of angle shots of the smartphone so you can hit up the source link to check it out. Fingers crossed for an announcement soon! You should expect a dual-core 1GHz processor, eight-megapixel camera with LED ...

The Motorola Droid 3, already launched in China as the Milestone 3, is being prepared for a July 7 direct-fill and a July 14 store availability with the user manual already being leaked out on the internet. According to recently leaked Verizon documents, the smartphone is still on track for the above mentioned dates. The screenshot above reiterates those dates so we think it's safe to assume that we'll see the Droid 3 this week. According to another Verizon leak, the smartphone sports a 1GHz TI-OMAP dual-core processor, eight-megapixel camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording ...

Lately, we've been juggling two potential dates for the release of Motorola's Droid 3 on Verizon. First we heard July 7 would see the smartphone's launch, but later info pointed to retail sales not beginning until around July 14. As fate would have it, it looks like both dates are sort of right, at least according to a newly-leaked document. According to this new information, the phone will initially be available via direct-fill on July 7; this is where you might place an order in a Verizon store, but the smartphone is shipped directly to you, rather than being on-site for you to take ...

The Motorola Droid 3, the one "responsible" for the Motorola Droid 2 Global Gingerbread delay, got its specs leaked and rumored for some time now but thanks to an official Verizon leak we now get a carrier confirmation. Putting the Droid 3 side-by-side with the Droid 2 Global and Droid X2, the above leak speaks of a dual-core 1GHz processor (TI-OMAP for that matter), eight-megapixel camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording, front-facer, 16GB of internal storage, world phone capability with overseas GSM support as well as Android 2.3 Gingerbread on-board. Nothing really ...

Last week, we got out first look at one of the many accessories that will soon be available for Motorola's Droid 3, hopefully signaling that the smartphone's release is soon-approaching. At first we heard that the handset may land at Verizon on July 7, only later to see a Best Buy screenshot indicating that its stores aren't expecting the Droid 3 until the following week. It's coming, all right, but we can't just yet say when. In the meantime, that lone case we looked at earlier is now among friends, thanks to the release of a new leaked screenshot showing a whole horde of accessories on ...
