HTC Sensation 4G, HTC Amaze 4G, LG DoublePlay, LG myTouch Q and LG myTouch. What do all of these devices have in common? They are all featured in T-Mobile's inventory wearing a "nearing EOL" status. While we can't say we're shocked to see end-of-life statuses on the three LG phones, the HTC Sensation 4G and the HTC Amaze 4G on the above list might come as a surprise. The two phones will probably still be on shelves as long as the stock holds enough units but T-Mobile is definitely planning on replacing its top Android phones. With MWC just around the corner, we can expect HTC to unveil the ...

We get excited enough when a smartphone manufacturer comes out with a new model that's a spec-bump over a previous release: multi-core processor, more RAM, larger screen, etc. That kind of approach to phone design manages to keep our attention with a seemingly endless parade of higher-end after higher-end hardware continually raising the stakes. Smartphones that actually stand out thanks to an interesting design, though, are a far rarer commodity. Models like the Kyocera Echo may not be the most practical things in the world, but we applaud those companies that will take a new design idea ...

This past Monday, a leaked screenshot from an internal T-Mobile computer revealed some of the dates pertinent to the LG DoublePlay's launch. While November 2 was given for the smartphone's retail launch, the leak noted that phone and web sales may start today, on October 26. That bit, at least, has now been confirmed, with LG tweeting the phone's availability, as well as an unexpected low price. While the DoublePlay is not an Android powerhouse, its solid hardware specs and unique, if not gimmicky secondary display nestled in its slide-out QWERTY keyboard had us thinking that somewhere ...

It's been about a week since T-Mobile and LG officially announced the DoublePlay, a unique take on the traditional QWERTY slider design achieved by adding a secondary display right in the middle of its keyboard. While an official release date for the phone remains elusive, a leaked screenshot shows that it should arrive on November 2. From the looks of things, pre-orders will be taken online and over the phone, but there are no signs the DoublePlay will start shipping-out as early. We're also still up-in-the-air as to the smartphone's price; although its unusual design makes direct ...

Formerly codenamed the Flip II, the LG DoublePlay has shown off its secondary display in recent press renders that hinted a nearing release and, one week later, T-Mobile officially announces the phone. The phone T-Mobile calls "the ultimate multitasking handset" sports a split QWERTY keyboard and dual capacitive touch screens. It packs a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3.5-inch main display and 2.0-inch sub display placed on the slide-out part, breaking the QWERTY keyboard in two, and a five-megapixel camera capable of 720p video recording. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread but not ...

This is supposedly the LG Flip II for T-Mobile -- the same handset tipped by This is my next back in May and then captured in the flesh by Pocket-lint in mid-June, albeit in the UK. Well now we have solid evidence that the innovative dual-screened device is indeed coming to T-Mobile US, though its retail branding remains a mystery (as do the majority of its specs). According to This is my next, we'll be seeing the Flip II -- which seems to be a sequel to nothing, although there's likely a current-gen phone codenamed simply Flip -- on precisely September 14th. We're not sure what to expect ...

Sporting a differently-colored keyboard than last time we saw it in the wild -- as well as a branded nameplate on the back -- the LG Doubleplay seems poised for a T-Mobile release, nearly four months after it accidently debuted at an industry event in London. Codenamed Flip II and going by the model number C729, Doubleplay offers a unique secondary display to supplement the main 320x480 HVGA screen, splitting the keyboard a la the legacy Nokia E70 Symbian handset. A quick search on Picasa reveals a few sample shots from the Gingerbread-powered phone's five-megapixel camera. Thanks to a ...
