Microsoft kick-starts the smack-talk machine, which blows up in its face just as Nokia sells its own headquarters. The Lumia 822 gives us an excuse to launch a brand-new review format, while a Nexus 4 trade lets us take a post-review look at Google's latest smartphone. The iPhone 5S breaks its cover -maybe- while the Nexus 10 gives everyone a reason to care about big Android tablets - again, maybe. Rumors of a new 1080p device from LG get the speculation bonfire going again, but a cool bucketful of Google Play-colored cold water got us back on track. And, of course, it wouldn't be a ...

The HTC DLX, or Deluxe, is believed to be the international variant of the J Butterfly, pretty much like the new Droid DNA on Verizon is the American flavor. We've seen it rumored and the most recent leaked images showed off some color variants of the phone. According to HTC's German Facebook page though the HTC DLX / Deluxe will not arrive to Europe. Apparently this is what the page had to reply to a user who has posted about the phone on the page's Wall. If the information is accurate and the DLX will indeed not come to Europe then what is the HTC DLX and where will it be available? Can ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we go through the leaked images of the HTC DLX or Deluxe DLX, which is the international GSM variant of the Droid DNA. Then we talk about some Black Friday deals for the iPhone 5 on AT&T, even thought this isn't the conventional iPhone 5 you can buy at any store. Later it's all about Black Friday deals, but mainly when it comes to Software on your respective platform. The Nokia Lumia 920 takes the spotlight also as we talk about its current sales performance at Amazon.com. We end today's show talking about the recent discovery that there may be a simple ...

There's no denying that most of us already have any variant of the HTC J Butterfly in our wish list. Sadly, at the moment it's only available in Verizon as the HTC Droid DNA that we recently reviewed, and as you'll notice by Michael's review, there's a lot to praise, but also some restrictions to be frustrated about. Now the cool thing is that we've already learned about an International variant of the device, to be launched as the HTC Deluxe DLX, even though some of us believe it'll just be called the HTC DLX and have the acronym stand for Deluxe. We're still not sure if this device will ...

Last month, HTC told us about the J Butterfly, coming to Japan. For its US release, that hardware metamorphosized into the Droid DNA, which had its official unveiling earlier this week. What about everyone else, though? Where's their five-inch 1080p Android? A new leak seeks to reveal just how that handset will arrive, showing-off the HTC Deluxe. From the front, at least, the Deluxe closely aligns with what we've seen of the J Butterfly and the Droid DNA, though the coloring up top may be a little closer to the former. The one really stand-out change is the switch to red-colored Android ...

We're expecting the Verizon Droid DNA made by HTC to be unveiled at tomorrow's event and with all the rumors and recent press render leaks we have a pretty good idea of what to expect: it will be a Big Red variant of some sort of the HTC J Butterfly which was recently introduced for the Japanese market by the manufacturer. The images above and below seem to be consistent with the press render we've seen representing the Droid DNA, with slight changes (though the accented camera on the back seems to follow the design guidelines used by HTC recently in its One X+). Strangely this phone is ...

After hearing plenty of different names tied to HTC's upcoming five-inch 1080p Android, the specifics of the phone's US launch have finally started to feel like they're coming together, and it's been looking likely that the phone would arrive at Verizon as the HTC Droid DNA. When that name appeared on the carrier's website earlier this week, attached to the model number we associated with this hardware, that theory was sounding more probable than ever. Today we get some more evidence for that name thanks to the release of a leaked render, as well some claims that seek to narrow-down just ...

Ever since the HTC J Butterfly went official for Japan, we've been awaiting confirmation of how the phone would make its arrival in the US. Last week, we saw a leak out of Verizon which suggested that the five-inch 1080p Android, identified by model number 6435LVW, would launch on the carrier as the HTC Droid DNA. While Verizon has still yet to issue a formal statement, that's now looking essentially confirmed, as that name has popped-up yet again, this time on the company's public-facing website. One of Verizon's smartphone support pages provides instructions for soft resetting phones ...

We say it so often on the Pocketnow Weekly podcast that it's become something of a cliché: we really, really want HTC to succeed. The company has been at the forefront of our technology consciousness  for only a few years in its current incarnation, but long before it was "HTC," it built devices as an ODM for other corporations. Devices like the PPC-6700, my first true PocketPC. Devices like the Treo Pro, which helped Palm survive its leap to a new platform (albeit briefly). And since striking out on its own, the company has altered the landscape with game-changing devices like the G1, ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about our full hands-on of T-Mobile's new Samsung Galaxy Note II. Then we go through the recent leaks of a Galaxy Note II variant coming to Verizon with some awkward branding changes. We later talk about the LG Spectrum 2 which will probably shine as a good product, but which is sadly no Optimus G variant for Verizon. Then we go through the new leaks of the HTC J Butterfly now being dubbed the HTC Droid DNA in Verizon and no longer the DIX or DLX. We end today's show by talking about Apple's launch of the iPad mini and the surprise of a ...

We've known HTC's anticipated five-inch 1080p Android by a number of different names. It's coming to Japan as the HTC J Butterfly, and we've heard about the phone preparing for a launch in the states as model 6435LVW, the Droid Incredible X, the One X 5, and the DLX. A new Verizon minimum advertised price contains mention of a previously unknown HTC smartphone, the Droid DNA, tied to that same 6435LVW model number. Could this be how the DLX finally arrives? A release date around Thanksgiving, as suggested here, certainly sounds plausible, but what about that price? Verizon's not afraid to ...

Full-1080p HD is coming to your smartphone! So break out the party hats and rent a pony, because the whole world's about to cha-- oh, forget it. As I -and several of my companions- have mentioned more than once on the Pocketnow Weekly podcast, I can't even pretend to be interested in this. Let's start with the facts. This isn't the first time we've talked about full-HD displays, but it's much more relevant today. Formerly the exclusive domain of speculative "someone will be crazy enough to do it someday" conversations, 1080p smartphone displays are now in the spotlight in a very real way. ...

Then we talk about the Best Buy pre-orders for the HTC Windows Phone 8X and the Nokia Lumia 920, which was sadly pulled from the list at last minute. Then we go through all the leaks and details of the Google Nexus 10 and the multi-manufacturer Nexus program planned for this year. We later cover the bad news about how Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be deployed onto Motorola devices. We end today going through the leaks of the HTC J Butterfly ...

We all wished we lived in Japan when we saw the HTC J Butterfly, a five-incher recently unveiled with Full HD resolution. However, rumor had it that this phone will somehow get to Verizon as the HTC DIX we've recently seen, or the HTC DLX more recently. The image above and below are claimed to be snapped off of an upcoming Verizon HTC DLX (apparently pronounced "deluxe"). According to the information attached to these pictures the DLX will pack a five-inch Full HD screen, a la J Butterfly, with a quad-core processor (believed to be the Snapdragon S4 Pro), aided by 2GB of RAM. Also in are ...
