When HTC announced the Developer Edition HTC One, we were a little surprised. Unlike years past, the company decided to play nicely with one of Android's most unique, defining features, the third-party developers who tweak and mod devices to no end. Samsung stole a bit of HTC's flame at Google I/O, however, when Google's Hugo Barra took the stage and unveiled a Galaxy S 4 running stock Android which will go on sale directly from Google Play on June 26. The CyanogenMod team sure shook-up its normal build strategy with the introduction of M, or monthly releases, starting with CM 10. As such, custom ROM fans had access to more stable, polished releases than the bleeding-edge nightlies. Development of CyanogenMod 10.1 continued with the release of several of these M builds, but now it's time for things to get just a little more formal, as we start looking forward to the final version of 10.1, following today's announcement of the first Release Candidate.
