RIM started off the day in a big way, showing off five of its latest smartphones. A few weeks ago, one of the company's co-CEOs divulged that it had seven such devices lined-up for release this year. At the time, we made our guesses as to what would make up that seven, based on the rumors we've heard of in-development BlackBerrys. One of those smartphones that made our list but was absent today is the Curve 9360. Despite the lack of inclusion, it looks like the 9360 is still being prepped for launch, showing up in a series of new pics. These images show more of what we've come to expect ...

No, we're not talking about a BlackBerry smartphone running the anticipated future Windows Phone release; RIM has also been using "Apollo" as the codename for one of its upcoming BlackBerry handsets, the newest to join the Curve series of devices. We first heard about the Curve Apollo early this year, an 800MHz smartphone with NFC and 512MB RAM. Now we have the opportunity to get a really nice hands-on look at the Apollo, thanks to a tipster shooting some good-quality video of the phone in action; no blurrycam here! Both the video's narration and the site the clip was originally posted to ...

RIM, to its credit, likes giving its customers plenty of personalization options when it comes to its smartphones. The BlackBerry Curve 3G, for example, comes in colors ranging from a muted gray to fuchsia pink. These days, though, it seems like a nice, clean white phone is all the rage (thanks in no small part to the hype over the long-delayed white iPhone 4), and the Curve 3G isn't about to be left behind from this trend. We've managed to spot a 9300-series BlackBerry with a full white makeover, apparently headed for Canadian carrier Koodo. This model is very similar to past white ...

It's been over a month since Sprint users of the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and Curve 9330 got their taste of BB OS 6 via an OTA update. Now it's time for Verizon subscribers to follow suit, with their own OTA updates starting to trickle out, reportedly going into full-swing just a moment ago, at 8 PM EST. In case you haven't been keeping up with BlackBerry OS developments, version 6 adds a universal search, going through your locally-stored data in addition to content out there on the web, has better management for your subscribed RSS feeds, and features a faster web browser with the latest bug ...

Leaked versions of the BlackBerry OS 6 firmware have been available for months, but not everyone's comfortable installing such software on their smartphone. For users who have been waiting it out for a legit upgrade, Sprint is now sending the update to users of the Bold 9650 and Curve 3G. If you haven't been following the advances RIM's made to its operating system, version 6 adds a universal search, covering both locally stored data and the web, groups together subscribed RSS feeds and updates from social networking services, and updates its web browser with speed and compatibility ...

Research in Motion may have a replacement for AT&T's BlackBerry Curve 8900 in the works known as the Curve 8980, hints a recently-declassified FCC filing. RIM's application for this device -- spotted in August running on the China Mobile network -- was approved all the way back in April, but all the good stuff (i.e. photos and user manual) was only unshackled from confidentiality agreements last week. Since this model has yet to be announced, not much is known about it other than previous reports which put its RAM at 256MB, twice that of the Curve 8900. A trackpad also replaces the 8900's ...

With Black Friday just a week away, news of upcoming deals has already started arriving. AT&T is joining in the celebration of capitalism with a weekend full of themed sales, including the opportunity to get some online-only deals on smartphones. The two days that promise to be the best chances to pick up a smartphone bargain are Saturday the 27th and Monday the 29th. On Saturday AT&T will sell select models of refurbished phones for a penny apiece (with contract, of course). The company isn't providing a full list of which handsets will be featured in the sale, but it did make a point to ...
