Just as we suspected that RIM will announce the BlackBerry Bold and as it surfaced on the website for a short time, Research in Motion officially announced today two new BlackBerry Bold smartphones, the 9900 and 9930.
Running BlackBerry OS 7 (ex BlackBerry OS 6.1), the two variants feature a 2.8-inch capacitive touch screen display with VGA (640×480) resolution and 287 dpi pixel density, “ultra-easy” QWERTY keyboard, optical trackpad, 1.2 GHz Processor, 768 MB RAM, 8 GB on-board memory, microSD slot supporting up to 32 GB cards, five-megapixel camera with 720p [...]
New images of the rumored Blackberry Bold Touch show it in comparison to the previous generation Bold 9700 and the Torch 9800.
In the image above you can see the differences in shape between the new Bold 9900 (right) and the Bold 9700 (left). It has a new more rounded shape with a thin silver bezel. Also shown is the change to capacitive buttons and what appears to be a front facing camera.

RIM is apparently not messing around when it comes to the hardware for the next wave of BlackBerrys; we’ve just got our hands on leaked spec data for the upcoming Bold Touch, and like the Torch 2 and other future RIM smartphones, it will be packing a 1.2GHz CPU.
In addition to the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 processor, the Bold Touch (9930, aka Dakota) will hold 768MB of RAM and 8GB of flash memory. The upcoming BlackBerry Bold Touch, also known as the 9930 or Dakota, has been caught on video in the wild. The phone, which features a brawny 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 CPU with 768MB of RAM, combines the great keyboard of the Bold series of devices with the touch-friendly interface of BlackBerry OS 6.1. The heat is really on in the past couple of weeks when it comes to RIM’s latest BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 and BlackBerry Touch 9860 Monza and everything leaked gradually around them.

According to two of BGR’s sources, RIM will only be unveiling one BlackBerry with the occasion of its upcoming BlackBerry World event.
