You’d have to be pretty careless to buy a new, improved Google Chromecast or Chromecast Audio at full retail, with no freebies or bundled-in digital content, as it seems deals are coming in left and right, leaving you no time to ponder Apple or Amazon-made rivaling devices. Granted, Valentine’s Day is no Christmas, so the best the search giant can do until February 24 is offer you gratis $10 Google Play credit with Chromecast 2 and Audio purchases. The two digital media players cost $35 stateside a pop, so if you’re thinking of getting them both, at the end of the day, you’ll only ...

CES 2016 may not have brought us a ton of all-new phones, but we sure got to see new spins on some recent models, and that included the golden special edition Nexus 6P graduating to wide availability. The handsome-looking handset emerged as a show favorite, and shoppers have been free to pick one up for themselves both through the Google Store and with retail partner Best Buy. Even though the gold Nexus 6P is still the new hottness, it's already attracting efforts to make it just a bit more commercially appealing in the form of some solid discounts, bringing the price down fifty dollars. ...

When the 64GB versions of a device cost more than a 128GB version, you know there's something good going on. But as we have the Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book out right now and presumably another consumer-grade Surface convertible tablet on the way, we may be looking at what we call "expensive model housecleaning." Both SKUs of the 128GB Surface 3 (with 4GB RAM) have had their prices cut by $150, resulting in a $50 undercut from comparable 64GB models. The Wi-Fi only edition stands at $449 and the LTE edition comes up to $549 at the Microsoft Store. Best Buy is offering the Wi-Fi only ...

Age is not just a number for the fall 2014-released second-generation Motorola Moto X, whose 2015 sequel considerably upped the screen size and resolution ante, as well as processing power, memory, battery capacity, and photography prowess. Still, the OG jumped from Android Lollipop to Marshmallow surprisingly early, and as such, it manages to stay in the spotlight way past its prime, also thanks to recent discounts enforced by Motorola and now Best Buy. The latter charges as little as $243 for an unlocked black model with 4G LTE connectivity, as part of an online-only clearance sale that ...

A new year means an opportunity for a new start, and what better way to prepare yourself for what lies ahead than a fresh makeover? Maybe for you that means new clothes, or losing that holiday-season weight, but for Huawei it means bringing some new looks to last year's hardware, and it's doing just that with both the Nexus 6P and its Huawei Watch wearable. A couple weeks back we mentioned some rumors that the gold Nexus 6P, heretofore only available as an incredibly limited edition in Japan, could soon spread to other markets - and in particular, the US. Originally announced alongside its ...

Face it, Windows Mobile enthusiasts, there are no palpable Lumia 950, 950 XL or even 550 discounts coming this holiday season, nor should you continue dreaming of year-end updates for older models. But if you can make do without Continuum support or other high-end goodies, and don’t mind playing the Windows 10 waiting game a while longer, Best Buy has you covered. The WP 8.1-running Microsoft Lumia 640 and Lumia 435 are available on and offline at $50 and $30 respectively, down from $80 and $50. The catch? You’ll need to activate the former on AT&T, and the latter on T-Mobile. The ...

Is it nearly time to stop talking about holiday-season shopping? We suppose you technically do have a few days left, but by this late date we hope you've got all the names crossed off your list, all you boxes wrapped, and you're finally getting to that stage where you can sit back and actually enjoy yourself. Maybe with all those gift recipients taken care of it's finally time to think about what you want for yourself, and if that means a new smartphone, Best Buy just shared details about a promotion that takes a hot deal from last week and makes the offer a lot more attractive, extending ...

Google’s newest stock Android-running phablet is likely outselling the smaller, lower-end, plastic-made Nexus 5X, but that hasn’t stopped the search giant from taking $50 off both devices for Christmas, also throwing in free overnight shipping until December 22. Even better, the Nexus 6P can now be purchased stateside through Best Buy as well, following a far too lengthy period of Google and Huawei exclusivity. And believe it or not, the Marshmallow-powered 5.7-incher is marked down at Best Buy right off the bat. Unfortunately, we’re only talking the 64GB “aluminum” (read silver) ...

Quick, before Amazon reconsiders, go ahead and buy your omniscient Microsoft Band 2 for $200 in small, medium or large models. Or you can take your business to Best Buy. Or, better yet, get your $50 discount directly from the fitness-oriented wearable’s manufacturer. That’s right, the patchy deal that came and went all week is back with a vengeance, and likely destined to last a little longer. Possibly, through Christmas, though you probably shouldn’t count on that, and hurry, especially if you want to actually receive it in time to stuff it inside a celebratory stocking. Much ...

Huawei took a big gamble when it chose a “premium” design path for its first ever smartwatch, pricing the super-stylish Android wearable device on-par with the Apple Watch, at $350 and up. But while Black Friday brought some obligatory discounts to the table, there was nothing too drastic to signal the Huawei Watch failed to catch on. Now, rumor has it a couple of variants designed specifically for ladies will land at CES 2016 in January, followed by an all-new, cellular-enabled generation in the summer, which is yet another sign the Huawei Watch is doing well at the box-office… ...

What's it going to take to convince you to try your hand at mobile payments? There's no shortage of phones with NFC hardware these days, plenty of retailers are outfitting their POS systems with compatible readers, and more and more banks continue to sign on with the companies behind the various tap-and-pay services. Even with all these stars aligned, mobile payments can still be a hard sell for some users, especially those who find themselves asking, “what's in it for me?” Google's got a simple answer to that question – cash – as it rolls out a new promotion for Android Pay. All ...

The Huawei-made Nexus 6P is a pretty darn attractive smartphone, pairing some powerful hardware, pure Android software, and a price that while it doesn't make for the most affordable Nexus ever, still represents a solid value. Sure the phone lacks luxuries like wireless charging and expandable storage, but we liked what we saw well enough to give the phone a glowing review. If you've been thinking about picking one up for yourself, you could be about to get a new option for how you do so. In the days leading up to the Nexus 6P's launch, we saw leaked renders showing off the phone in four ...

If you were wise enough to boycott the Black Friday shopping frenzy, and are still in the market for newer or older iGear, Best Buy has this big “Apple Holiday Event” in full swing that will let you score Apple Watches, iPads, and iPhones on the cheap. Without a doubt, the “iWatch” is the sale’s headliner, featuring its deepest price cuts to date, but the iPad mini 4 can also be deemed a bargain… for a change, at $300 and up. Across the board, Wi-Fi-limited and cellular-enabled configurations of the latest entry in the 7.9-inch franchise are discounted by a Benjamin, which ...

After many months of total silence on the Apple Watch discount front, US deals on the hottest wearable device around have started to pile up at last, ironically on the very heels of the year’s two busiest shopping days. Granted, the “iWatch” was in great demand at retailers like Best Buy or Target on Black Friday also, but at least the former is only now selling the iPhone-compatible timepiece for the lowest prices yet. Specifically, $250 and up, or a cool $100 shaven off Apple Watch tags across the board. 250 bucks, no catches, coupons or mail-in rebates involved, obviously score ...

If you thought Big G’s $300 Nexus 5X listing from a couple of weeks back was a one-time deal just because it expired once Black Friday wrapped up, you were… technically right. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still get LG’s stock Marshmallow-running 5.2-incher at a nice discount for Christmas. Through December 30, the US Google Store will apparently charge $330 for the 16GB N5X configuration, which is a little steeper than the BF offer, yet a cool 50 bucks off the MSRP nonetheless. Even better, a group of third-party electronics merchants including Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H ...

You didn’t need to be Nostradamus to prophesize Amazon’s eight days of holiday deals would put discounted Kindle and Fire gear front and center, but one of the e-commerce giant’s new tablets was notably absent from the massive yard sale. While the entry-level 7-incher took another 15 bucks off its already crazy low price of $50, the HD 10 stubbornly clutched to its $230 MSRP, only occasionally dropping to a $200 that didn’t quite make for a bargain. But for the next 24 hours or so, the Amazon Fire HD 10 sure looks like a steal at $170 through both the most valuable e-tailer ...

They say holiday shopping is a marathon, not a sprint. They don’t? Well, they should, and we do. Especially nowadays, with many an electronics merchant hell-bent on taking your money before Thanksgiving, as soon as you wrap up your Turkey Day feast, days after, and then on and around Christmas. Forget the biggest shopping day of the year, as stores, chiefly online, are taken by storm practically throughout November and December. Still, December 1, 2014 was responsible all by its lonesome for a record-breaking $2.68 billion worth of e-sales in the US, and there’s no reason to expect any ...

Purchasing mobile gear of any kind around Turkey Day is always wise. Waiting until the last minute to score the best possible Black Friday deals is the complete opposite. Granted, the temptation may feel irresistible, but unless you want to risk getting body slammed by a fellow desperate bargain hunter for that coveted final discounted Apple Watch, it’s good to know beforehand what to expect from every retailer and how to avoid the holiday shopping frenzy. Luckily, many electronics merchants, actual device manufacturers and carriers included, have either already kicked off early Black ...

Hot on the heels of Sam’s Club’s Black Friday 2015 promotion leakage, Best Buy sees its surprises unearthed, which may however increase people’s interest in what the retailer will have to offer come Thanksgiving. That’s right, BB is set to open its doors on Thursday, November 26, at 5 PM, with exclusive deals in brick and mortar stores, wrapping up 8 hours later before a second wave of discounts hits Friday morning, November 27, at 8 AM. Additionally, Black Friday promos will obviously last all day on the 26th online, but they’ll greatly depend on inventory as far as certain ...

Have you started your holiday shopping yet? Because if not, you're already way behind schedule, and no one on your list has any shot of getting what they want. OK, OK, so the situation isn't anywhere near so dire, but retail heavyweights aren't about to let you off so easy. You may still have a few weeks to go before Black Friday (and Cyber Monday, and Just Buy Some More Stuff Please Tuesday), but holiday sales creep means that we'll likely be seeing all sorts of deals landing between now and then. This weekend, Best Buy taps in to everything we love and hate about holiday sales with some ...

Google's September 29 event will almost certainly bring us some new Nexus phones, but what else could be on the menu? Beyond a possible new Chromecast, we've also been wondering lately whether Google intends to introduce a second-gen Nexus Player. Sure, it may not be the highest profile of Google's hardware offerings, but the original's coming up on a year old, and we've recently been kicking around the theory that a new model is about to debut. Some FCC docs we saw surface earlier this month only helped add fuel to that fire, and now a pretty big Nexus Player sale has curious if retailers ...

Michael Fisher is just getting his hands off of our review for the Motorola Moto X Pure Edition (check back for our text edition), a smartphone that's already had some tribulations in the carrier department. Fortunately, those have been solved and we're onto focusing on consumer reception. As of this post, it's been nearly 24 hours since purchases have started and four of the five models offered at Best Buy's website have had their ...

We still can't understand Apple's reluctance to provide sales figures for the Apple Watch, so the only logical thing we can think of is that they aren't going so well. This is the best selling smartwatch by numbers and popularity, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it reached Apple's own expectations. Cupertino recently decided to begin expanding sales availability of the Apple Watch to other retailers, and that doesn't seem to go so bad. One of the stores that the Apple Watch expanded sales to earlier this month was Best Buy, and the company's CEO, Hubert Joly, was recently on record to ...

Apple isn't only famous for its gadgets, but also for its customer service. The Apple Store Genius Bar is well known for helping consumers address problems, even for Apple products that were built a decade ago. The same goes AppleCare+, Cupertino's extended warranty service, which we now hear will extend its availability as well. It seems that Apple and BestBuy have just partnered to sell AppleCare+ on Best Buy stores starting September 14th, which is apparently just ahead of the launch of the iPhone 6s. These news are rather weird though, as Best Buy is notorious for offering its own ...
