Samsung's Windows RT-running ATIV Tab has been on our radar since last summer, when we got an early look at the tablet at the IFA in Berlin. As summer turned into fall, and Windows 8 launched, we wondered what was to become of the tablet; eventually, we got word from Samsung that it wasn't going to be bringing the ATIV Tab to the US, citing consumer disinterest with Windows RT in general. Despite its absence here, Samsung still made a push for the ATIV Tab abroad, hoping to find a market for the device. Unfortunately for the company and its tablet, it looks like those efforts fell short, ...

Alongside it's Windows 8-powered ATIV Smart PC and Smart PC Pro, Samsung also has a tablet which runs Windows RT, the Samsung ATIV Tab. Unfortunately, this Windows RT-based slate will not come to the U.S., according to Mike Abary, Samsung senior vice president. There are two main reasons for this move, according to the executive: modest demand for such a tablet from retailers and a non-justifiably high investment from Samsung's side to educate consumers on such a product. "There wasn't really a very clear positioning of what Windows RT meant in the marketplace, what it stood for relative ...

A little earlier today we learned that, contrary to what all the nay-sayers would have us believe, Samsung's premiere Windows Phone 8 entry, the ATIV S, would arrive this year after all, with sales starting later this week. Even if the phone won't be coming to carriers near you in the immediate future, that needn't keep you from getting your hands on the smartphone, as we've just caught wind of the first independent retailers announcing their own plans for the ATIV S, along with its Windows 8 tablet cousin, the ATIV Tab. UK-based retailer Clove will have both the ATIV S and ATIV Tab ...

Today at IFA Samsung will launch its new ATIV brand of Windows 8-powered devices (that's "vita" backwards, which is Latin for "life"). Running on Windows RT, the ATIV Tab will feature a 10.1" 1366x768 display in a form factor that is just 8.9mm thick. It'll be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU with 2GB of RAM and either 32 or 64GB of storage. It'll offer WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It will feature Office Home and Student 2013 RT, featuring the touch-friendly versions of the 2013 suite of Microsoft Office programs. The battery is pegged at 8,200mAh.
