While they've got a selection of HTC and Nokia devices to choose from, whatever happened to the Samsung ATIV S, the very first WP8 handset to be publicly announced? We've already talked to you about some of the delays that have been facing the smartphone's release, and now it looks like we're going to have to push our expectations even further back, upon word that the ATIV S might not be arriving until next year. Windows Phone fans can theoretically choose between two Nokia (Lumia 920, Lumia 820), two HTC (Windows Phone 8X, Windows Phone 8S) and one Samsung model but it looks like the choice is limited to the first four devices with Samsung's own ATIV S being pushed, at least in the UK, until mid-December. Introduced in August 29 as the first device powered by Windows Phone 8, it appears to be the last among the key players on some markets. Our friends over at Clove have updated the status of the phone and if you're in the UK (or want to import it) the information will not make you happy: "first ...

This morning in San Francisco, Microsoft took the wraps off Windows Phone 8, the latest iteration of its smartphone operating system and the mobile companion to its new desktop OS. While it's undergone a radical change to its underpinnings, swapping out its old foundation for the same kernel and core used by its full-sized Windows 8 counterpart, the massive overhaul isn't apparent from a visual perspective. The new OS features the same minimalistic tile-based user interface we've come to know and love from Windows Phone 7, with some tweaks to tile sizes, layout, and animations. Especially ...

We knew this day was coming: with Windows Phone 8 just around the corner, we're finally getting official confirmation from manufacturers about their launch handsets. The first to go on the record is Samsung, revealing the ATIV S at the IFA in Berlin. WP8 is finally bringing the platform into the present day with support for multi-core processors. As such, Samsung's hooked the ATIV S up with a 1.5GHz dual-core chip. Pair that with a gig of RAM, a nice big 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 2, and an eight megapixel main camera with 1.9-megapixel front-facer, and you've got ...
