Then we talk about the recently leaked Verizon roadmap, which finally spells Windows Phone 8. Then we talk HTC and their plans to bring Android 4.1 Jelly bean to the One X. The Asus Padfone also made the news as we've already got leaks of the second iteration of the convertible smartphone-tablet, which includes significant boosts in performance. We end today's show by talking about Apple's iOS 6 ...

If you have an HTC One X you should be expecting the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to land on your phone next month, according to recent reports. That's the same timeframe in which the Samsung Galaxy S III, its direct competitor, is set to receive its refresh bumping the OS version all the way to the latest. The information is not an official one -- and is so far not confirmed -- but is looks like a logical move. The reports also goes on saying that if you have a carrier version, as usual, your update might be late, but the entire process should be done in time for Christmas. The ...

There is no real shortage of seven-inch Android tablets on the market but so far the Asus-made Google Nexus 7 seems to be the preferred one, for obvious reasons. Acer wants to change that with the addition of the seven-inch Iconia Tab A110, recently announced by the manufacturer. There are no pricing details at the moment but rumor has it it will be a sub-$200-offering. The Iconia Tab A110 packs a seven-inch display with 1024 x 600 resolution (somewhat smaller than the one on the Nexus 7 which stands at 1280x800) and is powered by Nvidia's Tegra 3 quad-core SoC. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly ...

Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 was launched ahead of the Note II bringing the stylus to the tablet. You can check out our unboxing and make sure to stay tuned for the upcoming review but if you already have a Note 10.1 running Ice Cream Sandwich out-of-the-box you might be interested in a Jelly Bean OTA leak. A couple of notes: it is not yet available to download over-the-air (or by KIES) but if you decide to give it a go from the source link below you'll have to know that it will only work on model numbers GT-N8000. Also, this is a test ROM so expect some glitches; however, if you want to ...

The Samsung Galaxy Note II is expected to land on all U.S. carriers and so far we can tell you about the SPH-L900 on Sprint, the SGH-T889 on T-Mobile and more recently we've seen a screenshot allegedly taken off of a SGH-I317 on AT&T. The last piece of the puzzle seems to fall in place with today's leaked screenshot purportedly snapped from a SCH-I605, Verizon's Note II. It is definitely strange for Verizon to carry the Galaxy Note II since the carrier is all amped up about the LG Optimus VU phablet (dubbed Intuition on the carrier's line-up) but who are we to complain? The ...

The Asus-made Google Nexus 7 might be the go-to Jelly Bean tablet (or even device, at the moment) since it's part of the Nexus family but it is lacking a main camera at its back. The reasons could be multiple, from usage habits to reductions of costs, but the reality is that there is just one front facer which is one of 1.2-megapixels. This webcam is capable of recording 720p video just fine, just not out of the box. If you apply this XDA Developers mod you can enable it by simply adding the video profile, which is missing, to media_profiles.xml. There are a couple of ways you can achieve ...

Read OnWe know that the Samsung Galaxy S III will soon get its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update -- actually there were rumors talking about a possible August 29 release which obviously didn't happen -- making it even faster, if possible. There were several builds leaked and we even showed you a demo of I9300XXDLI1 running on the phone. According to SamMobile, I9300XXDLI4 is the most stable Jelly Bean leak ever for the phone; this might mean that the ROM is in a final stage and probably the public version will either be a minor version number bump or will contain just small changes. Anyways, the ...

If you have either the Samsung Nexus S 4G or the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint you might want to look out today for an update notification to hit your phone. You might also want to manually check for its existence (even if it is mentioned that you will not be able to pull it over-the-air on your own) because you definitely want to have it on your phone; we're talking about the Jelly Bean update, the fastest Android version yet. According to the image below, today should be the day when the two phones get a refresh which will bump the version numbers all the way to JRO03R for the Nexus S 4G ...

Back in June, Andy Rubin confirmed a total number of 900,000 Android device activations per day, which by itself is an amazing number. However, the curve seems to still have a climbing shape as we're now hearing a whopping 1,3 million daily Android device activations (that is both phones and tablets). The information came directly from CEO Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt who dropped the bomb at yesterday's Motorola event which gave the world the Droid RAZR M, RAZR HD and RAZR Maxx HD. We just told you about the outstanding success of the Galaxy S III and we all know that the Nexus 7 ...

July 23 was the day Samsung told the world that its latest Android flagship, the Galaxy S III, was being sold like cookies: 10 million units. More than a month later the number of S III sold worldwide according to the manufacturer, surpassed 20 million. With the latest iteration of the Galaxy S phone, Samsung has managed to set another record; the third generation Galaxy S sold better and faster than any other model before. Looks like the largest part of these devices went to Europe: 6 million. 4.5 million went to Asia, 4 million to the USA and 2.5 million stayed home in South Korea. ...

Look at that: one of the newest OEMs of the still one digit marketshare holder platform showing off some balls and picking a fight with the Goliath. Let's just hope this is not a case of a dog only barking and not biting. Here's the story: as you very well know, a couple of hours from now Nokia will show off at least one Windows Phone 8-powered device, and a working one at that, according to the CEO. Building up the buzz, the tweet above has been sent out by the Finnish manufacturer. While the confidence is definitely admirable, we're eagerly waiting the demo of a phone which, according to ...

As we mentioned recently, one of the devices we most anticipate for IFA 2012 is none other than the big Samsung Galaxy Note II. I do hope that Samsung figures out a way to fit the new phablet's display into a smaller housing in order to make the experience even better when carrying such a brick in the pocket, but at least we now have word on the specs that'll be powering the new Note II, and so far we find: A 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor Android 4.1 Jelly Bean An 8 megapixel camera, which disappoints our expectations of a 12 megapixel shooter 4G LTE connectivity Either 16GB or ...

Some of you might not be as fortunate as me when it comes to the Nexus 7; even though I'm living in a country that doesn't have the Nexus tablet officially just yet, I can easily "confiscate" Michael Fisher's while being in Berlin to cover the IFA this week. However, if you live in Germany, France or Spain, the first official Nexus tablet is now available on the Play Store, in addition to initial markets like U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia. Google probably didn't get the memo that one U.S. dollar is not by far equal to one British pound or one Euro; however, the prices are exactly the ...

August 29 is the date to circle in your calendar for those interested in the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S III if we are to believe the rumors that claim the refresh will shortly follow the IFA Unpacked event next week. We've already seen Jelly Bean ROM leaks and even the T-Mobile variant got its fair share of official ROM leak excitement. Just five days before the Unpacked event a new Android 4.1 ROM has been leaked. The last one was build I9300XXDLH4 as of August 14 and this latest one seems to bump the version numbers to I9300XXDLH7, as of August 24. ...
