HTC just announced their Windows Phone 8 entries for the fall, and you may have already seen our hands-on video of the two devices, but how do these compare with Nokia's Lumia 920 and 820 that were announced a earlier this month? Well, both HTC's Windows Phone 8X and 8S come in a variety of bright colors.  They feel great in the hand with the soft-touch unibody finish.  The styling of both the 8X and 8S is quite impressive and they really stand out when you look at other black slabs on the market.  But Nokia's got the bright colors and gorgeous design too, so really you have to look at ...

When the images first started flowing into the office from the HTC announcement this morning, I got really excited. Here at Pocketnow, we like a lot of HTC's products; AT&T's version of the One X was the first device I ever gave the full-review treatment to, and I had lots of nice things to say about that halo Android product. But HTC isn't exactly known for changing up the formula; as well-engineered as many of its smartphones are, they often roll off the line looking a lot like their siblings, coated in matte and semi-gloss variations on white, gray, or black. Not so with the new ...

Nokia sure is getting catty with its interactions with other smartphone companies as of late. While some of that's been directed at Android and Google, it's also been calling-out other Windows Phone OEMs over what it's been depicting as a lackluster Windows Phone 8 effort. Samsung got a taste of that a couple weeks back, and now it's HTC's turn, hot on the heels of the company's announcement of the 8X and 8S. Nokia's Chris Weber describes today as "more good news", making some strong implications that HTC's launch of the 8X and 8S amounts to little more than an effort to "tactically ...

HTC has made a couple of bold moves today with their launch of the Windows Phone 8X and 8S. Surely this isn't an easy market for them with the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 just around the corner, but I must admit that these new HTC smartphones do deserve your attention. HTC made a lot of talk about how they pushed design in their press event today. Now even though design may not be much for many of you, in a platform like Windows Phone where differentiation is tough, design is everything. Nokia has done a great job in making the Lumia a gorgeous phone, but I must admit that both the One X and ...

HTC CEO Peter Chou, alongside Microsoft's Steve Ballmer, took to the stage at HTC's New York City event this morning to announce the company's latest hardware. It's been cooking up its first batch of Windows Phone 8 devices, and today shared the results with us, the Windows Phone 8X and 8S by HTC. Both phones will go up for sale this November, coming to carriers that include AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. The 8S (above) runs a dual-core Snapdragon S4, has a four-inch WVGA display, 512MB of RAM, and a five-megapixel main camera with f/2.8 aperture. The phone's design is supposed to ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about the official release of iOS 6 and what you can expect from it. Then we go through some recent leaks of Windows Phone 7.8, which sadly got pulled as early as they made the news. Then we talk about the iPad mini and the recent leaked images of the full device assembled. The Cyan version of the Nokia Lumia 920 is next because apparently we will get that color variant. We end today's show by talking about both the LG Optimus G event and the HTC Windows Phone event, which are scheduled for later today, and which we'll be covering. All this and more ...

These couldn't be harder times for HTC. Wouldn't it be tough, if you spent years perfecting something that you're proud to call your-own, only to have people not notice it? HTC has been one of the true pioneers of the smartphone industry. They were one of the first companies to build the original Pocket PC that gave birth to most of the smartphones that you carry today. They were the first to launch a 3G smartphone, then the first at 4G. They brought capacitive screens to Windows Mobile back when not even Microsoft could figure it out. They also brought us the slide-out keyboard that many ...

OEMs are building the buzz, gearing up and announcing devices which will be powered by Windows Phone 8. So far we have the Samsung ATIV S, the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820. We know HTC is preparing a September 19 event and it is yet unsure whether we'll see the rumored Android-powered HTC One X+, some Windows Phones, the Flyer tablet follow-up (dubbed Flyer X, a seven-incher), parts of the enumeration, or everything. As far as the Windows Phone line-up is concerned we can allegedly expect to see three phones, whenever they will be announced. We are already familiar with the Accord as ...
