We all know Windows Mobile is based on the Windows Compact Edition kernal, but now we’re seeing a new version of the low-energy, powerful and extremely flexible operating system in Windows Embedded Compact 7. A Public Community Technology Preview is available for download, but you should also check out some of the videos available.
Indeed it looks like Windows EC7 could be a great platform for lower-end tablet devices that don’t need the full power of Windows 7 on x86/x64 platforms.
What do you think? Would a Windows Embedded Compact 7 based Tablet PC be a good companion device? What if it supported Xbox integration like Windows Phone 7?
