Cootek has just released version 3 of their TouchPal software input panel for Windows Mobile. In my opinion, this is the best on-screen software based keyboard around. Version 3 now offers more gestures and two more keyboard layouts. Instead of the original 2 letters per button layout, there is now a full Qwerty 1 letter per button layout, as well as a T9 style 3 letter per button layout.
Another new thing is two new skins. One is a nice blue, while the other is the old black/grey style to match HTC’s Touch themes.
It now has context sensitive match prediction as well:
The prediction engine can now guess the word based on what you have typed. For example, if you typed “let” and then type for “us”, the word “us” will appear prior to “is”.
Next word prediction – If you typed “look”, the word “forward to” will be shown in the candidate list.
Lastly, there’s a new opt-in tutorial that you can go through after installation. The tutorial has animated graphics showing you all the features of TouchPal and how to invoke them. This is a great feature and will surely reduce the learning curve even further.
