TouchFLO 3D vs Spb Mobile Shell
In an effort to hide the drab interface of Windows Mobile, there are many great interface-replacements available such as Spb Mobile Shell, VITO Winterface, and TouchFLO 3D (which comes preinstalled on the newer HTC devices - though you can port it to pretty much any Windows Mobile touchscreen device now).
Windows Mobile Louisville has put together an article comparing the best two known WinMo interface replacements: Spb Mobile Shell and TouchFLO 3D. They contend that although TouchFLO 3D is much more flashy and impressive visually, Spb Mobile Shell is the best solution for practicality, stability, configurability, and ease of use. They cite that the Home tab of TouchFLO 3D shows a limited amount of information such as the current time and date, missed call status, and next appointment, while Spb Mobile Shell shows those items plus a calendar, weather forecast, messaging status, and current sound profile. When using a mobile device, it's important to have quick and easy access to PIM information, and Spb Mobile Shell delivers on this front the best. With the Touch HD, HTC is finally letting people customize the TouchFLO 3D experience, though I'd like to see more of this.
Mobile Shell costs $29.95, which some think is high for mobile software. That said, many people find it to be worth the price. Give the trial a try to see if you like it (it only works with WinMo touchscreen devices).
