The Samsung Blackjack to Get AT&T Video Share

Before reading on, know that this information has not been confirmed by AT&T, and is just our speculation.

As reported in early June, the Samsung Blackjack WM6 ROM was unleashed on the world over at xda-developers, although not officially from AT&T, so a few brave souls, such as myself, loaded the new ROM and found everything to be stable and smooth.

A few weeks later, I commented on how I was seeing some sort of ghostly Video Share application pop up at random times after a call. As a reminder, Video Share is the new AT&T service available on just a few phones in a few cities that lets you broadcast real time video to another Video Share capable phone.

Today, after reading Gizomodo’s first impression of the service, I decided to do some more digging. I searched through Windows Explorer on my device for several minutes trying to find anything that would confirm my suspicion that the Blackjack will be a Video Share phone as soon as the WM6 ROM is officially released by AT&T.

After a fruitless search, I enter the Settings of the Blackjack, and I found a Video Share setting! How could I have missed it? And it makes sense – the Blackjack is a 3G capable phone with fast enough hardware to support Video Share (though perhaps not 2-way video telephony as they have in parts of Europe).

Now if only they’d make the pricing lower for Video Share, I’d be more excited.
