If you’re a Sprint Mogul user and was lusting after the TyTN II for the integrated GPS capabilities, fret not! According to Boy Genius Report, HTC is working with Sprint to deliver a new ROM update that will give the Mogul access to Sprint’s faster data network on EVDO Rev. A (which will be faster than the EVDO Rev. 0 access the Mogul is on right now) as well as software that will enable the GPS functions of the Windows Mobile Professional device.
Minus the tilting screen, but this makes the Mogul more competitive with the AT&T Tilt/HTC TyTN II. The difference between the two device is essentially the wireless radio used. The Mogul and the new Verizon equivalent the Verizon Wireless XV6800 operate on the CDMA radio with CDMA for voice and EVDO for data whereas the GSM Tilt/TyTN II operates on the GSM network with EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA for data.
It is unclear whether Verizon Wireless will offer its XV6800 the same upgrade that Sprint’s users will receive.
