File under: News
The people at Spb have released some of the best Windows Mobile interfaces in the industry. We saw a preview of the new Spb Mobile Shell 3.0 at Mobile World Congress 2009. Over the past couple of weeks Pocketnow had been given the privilege to test out the prerelease. The only statement we can make is, “Amazing!”
Spb Mobile Shell 3.0 incorporates some of the best features around; excellent touch response, smooth animation, very finger friendly and superior usability. The upgraded version now sports many new features that include customizable widgets, professional and lifestyle home screens, Facebook integration, 3D screen switcher, kinetic scrolling and Windows Mobile 6.5 support.
The professional page is similar to the Spb Mobile Shell 2.0. It displays message information, weather, notifications, and a sleek calendar. With just a flick up or down the page changes to the lifestyle home screen which can be customized with a multitude of widgets or applications. A click to the lower left will activate the program carrousel, a 3D style interface which smoothly transitions from one useful Spb screen to another.
The favorite’s contact page is similar to Mobile Shell 2.0 but now integrates Facebook, so photos can be downloaded and updated regularly. With the new version however there is also a favorite’s contact carrousel that emulates the same 3D kinetic scrolling transitions of the program selector.
The program will run on virtually all Windows Mobile 5/6/6.1/6.5 devices. The interface has been tested on all display resolutions (QVGA, WQVGA, Square, VGA, and WVGA) and works flawlessly on each. There is a 15 day trial available and the full version is priced at $29.95 USD. Spb stated that users who recently purchases Spb Mobile Shell 2.0 will be given a free upgrade through their website. The only negative aspect about this program is that in the prerelease, battery life was somewhat compromised. It is most likely that Spb will have the bugs fixed with this final release. Stay tuned for the full review of Spb Mobile Shell 3.0.
