Sling Player for BlackBerry in Public Beta

The popular Sling Player, which streams live TV to your device for no fees given you own a Sling box and have internet for the box and your device, is now entering public beta for BlackBerry devices, according to Wired. The download will be available December 30th--just in time for the New Year's ball drop if you're out and about without a TV in sight.

Devices that are compatible: The BlackBerry 8820, BlackBerry Curve 8320 from AT&T and T-Mobile, BlackBerry Pearl 8120, BlackBerry Pearl Flip, and the new BlackBerry Bold. Unfortunately, the newest BlackBerry Storm, an all-touch device from Verizon Wireless in the US, is not supported.

When Gizmodo demoed the earlier build, they had reported that speeds were quite good even over a slower 2.5G EDGE connection.
