Slide 2 Play (S2P), a free Windows Mobile music player, has been quite popular in the past because of its appealing look, finger friendly controls and integration with S2U2. It’s been 9 long months since the last update, however, and during that time span we’ve seen other free music players pop on the scene (Nitrogen), making some of us forget about S2P.
That being said, former and current users of S2P should be excited to hear that A_C, the creator of the S2 series, has finally updated his music player to version 0.70. It’s currently in beta because the “Playlists” feature isn’t quite ready and the “Album View” still has some bugs that need to be ironed out. Nonetheless, it’s already much better than the previous release. The interface has been enhanced and there are several new options, so it would be a good idea to keep an eye on development.
View the changes below and download the beta from A_C’s site to test it out for yourself.
Changes in v0.70:
- Temporarily disabled the “Album View” & “Playlists”
- Added option to set/refresh the music library
- Added more views to play or shuffle songs; an artist’s songs or albums
- Added option to play album by album randomly – “Shuffle Albums”
- Added support to MP4/AAC as long as the device already has the corresponding WMP decoder
- Faster startup
- AVRCP no longer requires WMP running in the background on some HTC devices (read the FAQ for details)
- A lot of enhancements made on the user interface
- A lot of minor bugs fixed
