With sensitive personal information becoming more and more at risk these days it only seems natural to want to protect yourself. Many people protect their personal information on their Windows Mobile devices by implementing a boot password, some encrypt the files on their storage cards, and others invest in super secure devices such as the Spectra Edge. It’s only natural that we want to protect ourselves from fraud, but what happens if your device OS crashes, it becomes stolen, or accidentally dropped it in the toilet.
The creators of Resco Backup 2 have you got you covered. The updated version now allows you to back up your data to FTP servers (which fixed a big complaint in Neal Stublen’s review last May) as well as view your storage card data on your personal computer. The basic features are very simple to use, just pop in an extra storage card, backup your files (email, SMS, MMS, appointments, contacts, registry, system databases, and your device itself) and keep it in a safe place. The advanced features are more involved but well worth the effort. In the unfortunate event that your device is out of your control or destroyed you will be able to recall the information quickly. The software will only run on a Pocket PC. The program features a 14 day trial and a final purchase price of around $20.
