Palm Treo 700w Blog: Day 6 – Desktop ActiveSync

As I have more than one device, I’ve been able to observe interaction between ActiveSync and the Palm Treo 700w and ActiveSync and my i-mate K-JAM. Interestingly enough, I’m able to see that Palm identified the problems that most WM5 users are having with ActiveSync and have fixed them.

While I am still having my problems with Exchange ActiveSync and OTA Synching, I have noticed that unless something really wierd is happening that would require me to bounce my PC, ActiveSync always works. Meaning, that no matter what, it always connects to the 700w when you plug the sync cable in.

Not so with my K-JAM; and here’s the interesting thing: I didn’t install a different version of desktop ActiveSync. Its the same one I’ve been using now for a while, version 4.1, Build 4841.

So, Palm had to do something to AS on the device side; AND that means that they found and squashed the bug that is giving my K-JAM trouble when connecting to desktop ActiveSync. While this is great news, I really wish Palm would share the information with Microsoft so that the rest of us can benefit from this bug fix. I’m getting tired of rebooting my PC.

Now, if you’ll excuse me… Yeah, you guessed it. I need to reboot.
