I had never really paid attenton to Office software and the numerous readers and document editors available for my Windows Mobile Professional/Pocket PC device. However, today, while searching for “Office” after I had selected the Tilt as my device on Handango, I found Office Mobile from Microsoft on sale for $49.95, which is only compatible with Windows Mobile 6. Are there new devices out there that come without Office Mobile pre-installed? For $50, would users buy Microsoft Office Mobile or are the alternatives out there more competitive? I can’t imagine Microsoft splitting out Office Mobile from Windows Mobile as the built-in Office package has traditionally been leveraged as a competitive advantage over other solutions like the BlackBerry platform.
