Smartphones can easily double as small sketch pads with the right software. As Windows Mobile users, we’re familiar with many drawing applications that take advantage of the use of a stylus. It’s been a while since there’s been an app that concentrates on drawing, rather than jotting down simple notes. Well, DynaInk is a new app that tries to simulate a real drawing experience using your touch screen.
DynaInk has different drawing tools (pencil, brush, pen) with changeable ink widths and an easy to use color palette. A neat feature is the ability to load a picture file or create a background using your camera. This is great for those who like to draw on top of images. For novice artists, you can load an image, trace some of it, then remove the image leaving only the ink. Such a feature allows users to effortlessly work off of a base, possibly improving the outcome of the artwork. Projects can be emailed quickly using the app’s built-in “Instant Email” option. Just click the file icon on the main screen, pick which email account you want to use, enter a recipient and press send.
I found the drawing experience to be accurate and responsive, which is a must for any app like this. DynaInk for Windows phone supports most screen resolutions. You can take it for a 7-day test drive and/or purchase it for $9.99. The special promotion price ends in a month. View video of it in action and find out more from the DynaInk homepage.
