It seems that there be something interesting after all about Acer’s batch of four upcoming Windows Mobile 6.1 devices.
As seen in this video from Engadget, Acer brings a new interface to Windows Mobile home screens with a concept that we have yet to see: the desktop concept. Meaning, you are presented with a three-dimensional desktop. The idea is that you take widgets out of your desk drawer, and slide them onto your desktop. As seen in the video, the interface exhibits some terrible performance, but it’s probably just an alpha that needs some bug fixing.
Is this a good idea, or just a novelty? Other WinMo interface are in two-dimensions for a reason…adding a third to a device with limited screen space is silly. Items hide behind one another making them difficult to see or select. Acer should stick to Spb Mobile Shell.
