More Games Coming to Handango for Windows Mobile

Like them or hate them as the evil empire that doesn’t give enough back to developers, Handango is expanding its catalog. If the iPhone taught us anything, it is that entertainment and games are at the top of consumer’s list of third-party applications, topping out other categories like reference materials, business and productivity software. According to InformationWeek, Handango is going the route of the iPhone, bringing more game titles to Windows Mobile and BlackBerry platforms. The article notes that the following titles are coming soon: “Deal Or No Deal,” “Jenga,” “Mercenaries 2,” “3D Brick Breaker Revolution,” and “The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift.”

My complaint: Most newer popular game titles only support QVGA whereas some older titles, many of which aren’t from big names, can do VGA. What this means for the user is that new titles either won’t play on a VGA device, which is becoming more popular with HTC’s new crop, or will play in a quarter of the screen size, making the gaming screen useless as it will become diminutively small on a quarter of a 2.8″ VGA screen.
