Microsoft has a new voice note recording application available for Windows Mobile 6.0 and higher. “Recite”, as it’s called, will function as a “thoughts recorder” that also allows you to remember your thoughts by using voice recognition searching.
When you start the application, you press the “Remember” button in order to record your thoughts. It shows a “Listening” bubble animation, and then you press “Finished” when done. Then in your list of recordings, there’s a Search button. When you press that, say any word or phrase that might be contained in one of your previously recorded thoughts. After pressing Finished, the software will show a list of possible matches, and begin playing the first one that includes a match.
Easy and useful? Extremely. Maybe future versions will include text-based search capabilities and transcribing.
To download the Technology Preview and try it yourself, visit Recite.Microsoft.com from your desktop computer or Windows Phone.
