If you’ve tried to install the Windows Live Mesh Mobile client beta and received the following error, take a look at this thread where the bug is documented.

Window Text = Live Mesh is unable to find suitable version of SQL CE on this device. Unable to install Live Mesh.

It turns out the current beta of the Live Mesh Mobile client is not compatible with the latest SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 SP1 version, so you’ll have to install SQL CE 3.1 instead.

You can also download the proper SQL CE CAB files to install from Dom Mitchell’s Skydrive.

After installing the SQL CE 3.1 CABs, do a soft reset and then download the Live Mesh CAB file and it should install just fine.

The Live Mesh Mobile client lets you synchronize file folders with all of your Windows XP, Vista, Macintosh, and Windows Mobile devices through the Internet. You can also set specific syncing options and folder sharing options for each folder, thus making for a very compelling cloud-based file networking service.
