HTC Hero Application Store Tour

In this video, we cover the application store of the HTC Hero (called the Market), which isn’t as regulated as that of the iPhone; we find that there is a large selection of useless software and some of the app reviews are even spam.

That said, the way the Hero (or Android in general) manages app downloads is smart. It uses the notification tray to inform you of the progress of an app download and installation. If the app costs money (pay apps represent a small fraction of the Market), you can enter a credit card right on the device, or select one from your Google Checkout account.

The selection of apps has gotten much better from where it was a year ago, but is not as robust as that on the iPhone.
