How to Use WiFi According to Your Location

Another very useful application comes from XDA Developers, WifiLocations, a free, small and neat utility that will turn your WiFi on or off according to your location, if you have a Windows Mobile Professional device powered by .NET Framework 2.0 and higher and sporting WLan.

WiFiLocations has the ability to recognize the position of your device, not by using GPS but by reading the cell tower data. You have the ability to have it set up the way you want it, for instance to automatically enable Wifi when under coverage of a certain cell (i.e.: while at Home and/or Office) and also to have it turn WiFi off when leaving the area. To add a location where WiFi will be turned on, simply hit the Add Current Cell-ID button and from there on, whenever your device will be under the coverage of that certain cell, it will turn its WiFi on, and then off when leaving.

Download WiFiLocations from its home thread and install it to device. It will automatically start when device is turned on, so you don’t need to worry about it anymore, after you’ve configured it the way you want it.
