Flipper is the latest from mobileSRC, makers of GScroll, Sideline, plus others.
The premise is simple: to make frequently used actions easier to get to. The app places a series of colored tabs on the right or left side of the device. Pressing on a tab will bring up either weather, quick dial, the time, a program launcher, or task manager, depending on which tab you press and how you have it configured. You can assign a hardware button to reveal the tabs so that you don’t have to leave them on the screen all the time.
The app has a lot of promise beyond these five tabs. The developer plans to release an SDK so that users can create their own tabs. Perhaps one for next appointment or active tasks would be super useful.
The software is pretty cheap right now at $5, and you can grab it from our software store where a trial is available.
