The sPlay interface found on the first Else mobile device is built from the Access Linux Platform and has a bit of a futuristic feel with text-based blue menus, plenty of transparency, and a new take on how a user should interact with their mobile. What’s most unique about the Else UI is that it works remarkably well with one-hand with special on-screen menus that fan outward and make it easy to hone in on a selection. Their website is also quite interesting with a cinematic intro.
The below 20 minute video from the Mobile-Gadgteer taken a MWC is a deep look at the interface of this new platform. It’s running on hardware that has a 3.5″ 854×480 capacitive touchscreen, 32GB of flash memory, a 5.0MP camera, and proper radios to do 3G in the US. We’re expecting Else to release its handset in Q2 of 2010.
