Users of the Avantgo service are being invited to participate in the free beta testing of “Avantgo ’05.”

The new version of the software has the several enhancements, including:

-New look and feel:A complete redesign of the user interface

-Small-screen optimized navigation designed to maintain ease of use

-Improved on-device channel management and selection

-Enhanced connected/wireless features

-Abbreviate sync times and minimize wireless costs by selecting the channels you wish to sync

-Browse and search all 1200+ AvantGo channels while connected

I installed it last week and so far, I like what I see. The new version seems to have a stand-alone viewer, essentially a custom browser built upon the guts of Pocket Internet Explorer. It looks like a solid improvement. However, there is still no support for RSS/XML feeds. Otherwise, Avantgo ’05 is definitely worth a look.
