This is a great example of how technology can help save lives. EpDetect is a Windows Mobile app that uses the phone’s accelerometer to detect if a person is having a seizure. If a seizure is detected, the phone will send an SMS to up to three people with the GPS coordinates of the position of the patient.
The EpDetect website cites that they’ve tested the program on the Touch HD and Touch Diamond, though it should work with any phone with an accelerometer. The program is free, though the company is acting for donations to help with costs of development, etc.
