Official Dual-Booting Exeda Handset is the Ultimate Netbook

At first glance, the handset looks like a fat, squished Epix, given its candybar form factor, front-facing QWERTY keyboard, and an optical trackpad. However, the handset is feature-packed, with dual-booting operating systems featuring Windows Mobile and Android. While there have been hacks in the past, including getting Android to work on the Verizon Wireless Touch and an early alpha/beta to get Android on a Touch Diamond, news of the Exeda–made by CompuLab–represents one of the first official efforts to unite both operating systems on one hardware platform.

CompuLab has been on the news here before if that name sounds familiar. Previous efforts from the firm allowed customers to create their own smartphones and customize them with hardware options and features to their liking, similar to a build-to-order option from computer manufacturers.

Regarding the Exeda handset, CoolSmartPhone is reporting:

Packing a 3.5″ VGA touch-screen and a full QWERTY and capacitive touchpad for mouse control it’s also connected to the world with quad-band GSM / GPRS and 3G plus WiFi. Not only that but you also get two USB ports, ethernet (through a connector) and SDIO. Blimey. You also get microSD with SDHC support, 2 megapixel camera, a stonking 3000mAh battery, more memory than you can shake a stick at and a Marvell PXA270 CPU powering the whole thing.

That’s almost a mini-netbook with the two included USB ports, trackpad, ethernet jack, and everything else on-board!
