Move Over Touch HD! Pharos Supports 3G on T-Mobile & AT&T in US

This is surely welcomed news, although I am not sure about roaming and carrier-roaming agreement between the two leading GSM providers in the USA, but the Pharos Traveller 137 is sold as an unlocked, 3G phone with GPS capabilities that supports 3G frequencies on both AT&T and T-Mobile USA. Hopefully, this means that users will not encounter as many 3G dead-spots and won't have to revert back to 2G EDGE speeds as often.

The device will closely rival the Touch HD, which HTC has repeatedly stated will not be available in the USA. The large 3.5-inch WVGA screen and GPS on the Pharos Traveller will be welcomed news for those who rely on their smartphone for navigation.

According to The Boy Genius Report, the phone will retail for $600 in the first half of 2009. The maps are available on a pay-as-you-go subscription basis with rates being $1.99 per day, $4.99 per week, $6.99 per month, or $49.99 per year.
