The new i-mate 810-F is a nice rugged device and the keyboard looks attractive. Overall, the trackball design makes it look like a rugged BlackBerry, or more similar to the HP iPAQ 910. The i-mate will go for $700 this summer and comes with a magnetic compass, a new feature that has been announced for the newly announced iPhone 3G S model as well where the “S” stands for speed.
The i-mate design is made to withstand drops, extreme temperatures, and dust. The device features a charging adapter, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. There is even a lifetime warranty with a per year subscription fee.
The device will ship with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. The included stylus looks like an XACTO knife blade.
