Well, I’ve been using the Cavalier for approximately three days. In an interesting dichotomy, it’s very similar, yet surprisingly different to the Dash. The hardware differences are visibly noticeable, but it’s not until you handle it do you realize just how different they are. The edges are square, even sharp on the Cavalier. Juxtapose this with the Dash and its rounded curves and you have two very different shapes. Personally, I am still finding the sharp edges of the Cavalier somewhat difficult to get used to, even after 3+ days.
The screens also vary. The Cav’s LCD appears to be manufactured using different material, allowing it to perform better in direct sunlight. It also has a dynamic light meter, illuminating the brightness of the screen/keys in relation to the amount of ambient light available. Very cool and highly functional.
The battery life on the Cav is understandably lower than that of the Dash, especially using the 3G radio. I was lucky to make a day in these conditions. Yes, the battery is in the Cav larger, but only by a few 100 mAh.
I’ll continue to test this device then publish the full review shortly. Thanks for all the feedback so far; please let me know should you want anything specifically looked at.
