It seems that Microsoft is emphasizing the Xbox integration as a strong selling feature of Windows Phone 7. The feature would be a great selling point to both consumers and developers as Microsoft is beginning to create an ecosystem, like Apple, to keep users locked in on multiple devices and platforms made by Microsoft. According to Microsoft, developers who already develop for Xbox could easily port their games to Windows Phone 7.
According to Microsoft, “There are four million Xboxes in the UK compared to 2.5 million iPhones; we’re now working with developers who know how to make games, and they’re able to port Xbox Arcade games to mobile phones easily.”
At GDC, Microsoft had demonstrated the three screens of game play for Windows Phone 7 and that looked pretty impressive. We’re eager to see some phones launch to get a feel of how successful Microsoft is at enticing the developer community.
