Enough with the screencap-of-the-week, purporting to show one of the upcoming white versions of a smartphone, or a render from its manufacturer: now we have a couple real-world images of the white iPhone 4 and Nexus S, along with some pricing information.
The white Nexus S image comes from a “well placed industry source” who managed to get a beautifully clear picture of the phone’s white rear. This time the phone is supposedly destined for Vodafone, keeping with the European availability we heard about when the phone was initially revealed.
A reader of Canadian site MobileSyrup spotted a white iPhone 4 while on the Toronto subway. We know Apple has its engineers run some real-world tests on new hardware prior to its release, and a subway is a notoriously difficult place to find reception, but something about the user’s leopard-print scarf doesn’t quite scream “engineer”. All the same, it suggests the time for the phone’s release is ripe.
Even when you do get a chance to buy the white iPhone 4, you may have to shell out a little extra. A price list from Orange France shows the white versions of the smartphone fetching 20 more than their black siblings. Granted, plenty of people will readily pay the premium, but it would have been nice to catch a break after waiting so long for the phone. We’ll have to wait and see if other carriers follow the same pricing strategy.
